Description

Levis will bring you here if you ask them. The police chief speaks excellent English and is super friendly. He's happy to meet tourists. You should bring everything (food & water) for 2 days, but it is possible to go to the bazaar as well.
Big green area to camp, but a lot of litter. You can move freely inside the police area which is ~1000 x 700 m.
Good alternative to Bloom Star Hotel, as it's free and much nicer, especially when traveling with a dog.

Latest Check-Ins

We were warmly welcomed by the Police officer, who likes traveling and travelers. We could use his mobile data via Hotspot and if you have a camper you can stay savely overnight on the huge police area, it's dirty but you can use the toilett just opposite the parking lot. Getting NOC and simcard was very easy and took us 2 hours. We did the hole way to Sukkur in the same day with Lots of escort changes and it was really dangerous to drive in the darkness because of small road and the lights of the traffic from opposit side. Recommodation for Sukkur: Hotel Hayatt.

We could stay in our van on a large field, so we were very comfortable and took a rest day. At night it is quiet, during the day we had many conversations. The protected area is very large with other houses and goverment offices, so you can take a walk. We used the wifi in the police office. People are very interested and friendly. We got help with water, shook hands with a minister and a man even took our punctured tire for repair.

Safe but dirty. but I think you can not find any better place in this city. We drove 13hours from Tatfan to Quetta Police station. During the journey Police guards changed 15 times :-)

Whatever it takes, GET A SIM CARD in Quetta!!! The Levies will try to dissuade you, tell you the shops are closed, it’s not safe, you don’t have time, etc… But insist! Trust me, you will regret not having internet during the next 2-3 days of escort, and you will have no place as a foreigner to buy one until Islamabad or Lahore.

Asked levies to go to the police station and spend the night there. This was fine, but we were not allowed to buy a sim card on arrival. We are allowed to buy it the next day under guard. However, buying bread under guard was fine. There is WiFi, a toilet and a kitchen you can use. Guards are friendly and are very curious about.. well everything really. Escort from Dalbandin was very quick: escorts were waiting for us in advance and we never waited for more than 20 minutes. Very different from Taftan to Dalbandin, which consisted of more hours waiting than driving. We made the trip in 6 hours. We're getting an escort to the border of the Quetta province tomorrow morning. This border is another 400km to the next police station.

Bloom star hotel is not free anymore. They wanted to charge 10€ for park and sleep in our van. They where very rood and nasty to us only because we insist we wanted to go to police station. They have a big business here!
We stay at police station and it was pretty good also it is easier to organice the NOC and make it quicker.

My last check-in was meant for the Bloom Star Hotel ;)

STAY AT THE POLICE STATION!!! This guy is one of the best rip off artists I've ever seen! But a rip off none the less. Insist on staying at the police station when you talk to the police on the way in. They will try and bring you here, but INSIST and they will take you to the police station. Where it's free!

Definetly go there. It's much better than staying in the hotel. The guys are super friendly.
In the beginning I asked them to bring me to a hostel. They said yes. Three times changing cars every time the same question where I want to go and they agreed to bring me to the hostel. They suggested me every time Bloom Star Hotel. I refused every time. In the end they said hostel is not possible. Only solution was police hostel. I agreed 😀
If you need something, push and insist. It works. They escorted me to buy a simcard.
In the back of the office left to the chief office is a normal shower, clean toilet and a sink.
There's also a small canteen and a small shop where you can buy drinks and some snacks and also order food.

We didn't want to stay at Bloomstar due to its outrageous pricing (we were told 2500 per person per night in the room). We complained to the levies that we did not have that much left and after a while we were offered to camp on the roof of the Police Station. The guys were very kind and friendly and were helping us as much as possible. We gave them biscuits for their morning tea:) The toilets are a bit dirty but there is a hot water tank and lots of cold water taps so it's possible to take a shower and do the washing.

Your best, and certainly cheapest, option in Quetta.
Behind the station is lots of space.

Perfect place if you are 100% self supporting. No camping permitted in a tent, just sleeping in the car. The police chief is a really nice guy and super willing to help.

I spend 3 nights here. Parked just in front of the gate.
Dirty toilet. Others camped on the roof. You can walk around to the foodball field behind the station. And they drive you around if you ask but its dificult to explain wat you want.

Don't know about the hotel as we asked them to bring us directly here, but there was no green area. Good thing: we arrived late and could use the wifi in the registration office. Next day it took a while until they finally brought us to get the NOC (which took nearly two hours and a lot of smalltalk and tea to get). But after that we could leave Quetta at 1 pm! Make sure you know how far you want to go that day. We were driving until about 10.30pm that night because no escort made an effort to take us to a police station when it got dark. As we started asking at the eskort changes where we are going to sleep, no one was able to speak English ... they just continued forwarding us to the next escort until finally people spoke English again to asked us where we want to go!
