We (VW T3, 4x4) thought to take this road westbound to Oyolo, hoping that we could maybe cross to Colta/Marcabamba down there, but it's a very, very bad road! Steep switchbacks on big sliding stones, some parts were slipped off already. We turned around after a few kilometers, and even that was thrilling... So - better leave it ;-)!

Update as in October 2018. Road from Vilcar to Colta to Oyolo to Corculla to Charcana enroute to Cotahuasi is passable. Good ripio but with steep cornering. Expect delay as there's a lot of road works in progress.

Although passing the altitude of 4'800m, the gravel road is well prepared.
