Report Check-In

According to the owners Selma and Eddie the campsite is closed.

Report Check-In

We were so looking forward to this place but when we arrived there the sea was as brown as the Serengeti Hippo Pool! 😅 I don't know if it's the season or just a bad day so better contact them beforehand to make sure the ocean looks good especially because there's 3km of annoying bumpy dirt road to access the campsite where you can only drive 12km/h.

Report Check-In

We had a wonderful 6 night stay here, in paradise! Eddie and Selma are outstanding hosts, whereby nothing is too much effort. The food is amazing… just know that you need to order ahead of time. We would recommend this place to anyone and everyone, and would most definitely come back again given half a chance.

Report Check-In

Very accomodating, Eddy and Salma (?) such great couple. Fantastic food, cooked by Eddy. 1200 KES pppn. Right on the beach. We loved it.

Report Check-In

1200, pppn which I thought was a crazy price.
The official sheet said 700/ night.

Only one toilet / shower and salt water at that.

Nice place, nice food but we felt it was to pricy for what it was.

Report Check-In

What a great place to relax and unwind. We had a lovely welcome from the owners and their very attentive staff. You park under the trees almost on the beach. There are a number of good flat spots for those with a RTT. The ablution block was being refurbished so they opened up a room for us to use which was great. Take lots of water for dri King and cooking as the tap water is only fit for washing, it's very brackish. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay 1 night as my wife came down with COVID so we packed up and went home. We will be back as we didn't even have time to take photos.

Report Check-In

We have been wanting to visit Barefoot for sometime. We managed to spend one night there before having to hi-tail it back to back to Nairobi having discovered that we had COVID. Its a super place and one of the best beaches in Kenya, long and empty. You park your rig / tent / Bakkie under the trees on the edge of the beach and wake up to views of the sea. Such helpful hosts they even went out to get me my favorite beer (White Cap). Unfortunatly, we didn't get to sample the food (or the beers) so I can not comment on that. When we were there, the ablution block was not finished, so they opened up a room for us to shower etc. Take water with you, the tap water can't even be used for cooking its so brackish.

Report Check-In

Nice place, You kind of get your own beach by yourself! They opened up a room for us to use the shower and the toilet. Unfortunatly only salt water showers.
The food is also very good.
We camped here for 3 nights. When it came to paying the bill, Eddy charged us for things he never mentioned that they aren’t free. For example the „beds“ where we relaxed in the sun or the „fruit salad“ (which was just two slices of melon) after dinner.
These things weren’t expensive of course but we think it was not honest and ruined a bit the good vibes we had before.
So be aware! In the end still a really nice place to go though :)
800ksh pppn

Report Check-In

We are here for the second time and it feels like coming home.
Food, people and atmosphere are so amazing. You come as guests and leave as friends.
800 ksch pppn for camping.
Come in and have a relaxing time and fun!

Report Check-In

It is a true pleasure arriving at Barefoot Camp. Situated right on the beach front and immersed in wonderful vegetation, we feel welcome from the first moment. The owners, Selma and Eddie, are always happy and relaxed and we can see their real satisfaction making sure we are having a good time.
You can lodge on a very comfortable and beautifully designed room or camp under the trees, protected from the weather, close to the beach bar.
The food was absolutely spectacular! The best crab ever! Don’t miss Friday pizza.

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite ON the beach with great bandas/chalets too. Owners very nice a d helpful and just great atmosphere. Food is delicious - had pizzas and seafood. Nice little bar/seating area on beach. Long white
beach with great swimming. Lovely relaxing 3 days.

Report Check-In

What a fab place... a few camping spots to nestle in and get some shade right on the beach. Great expanse of beach with little foot traffic so you can really get away from it all. Selma kindly let us use a cabana for showering which was close by and we used our extension cable to plug in. 800ksh pppn. Requesting you call before arrival -+254 722 421351 Highly recommend ... and we have camped at quite a few places on the beach.

Below are the directions whatsapped to us. There is a little sand but not too deep and they have used coconut husks to make the drive easier in places.

Travelling FROM Melindi ...Pass the sabaki bridge, pass mambrui keep on the lamu road. You will come across our sign board and che shale turn right drive down the dirt road, again see our signs and turn right where we have laid coconut husks on the road. You will see a sign for kismani primary drive right on the coconut husk to the end and you will turn right at the sign and left on to the access rd to the beach.

Report Check-In

a 4x4 is definitely needed.
with our motorhome we could reach the reception through a sandy track, but no way we can park on the camping spot (deep sand)
we parked in their alley.
it's a really nice place and the owners are great, very friendly ! even not parking on the beach we stayed 3 nights.

Report Check-In

This is a wonderful campground just at the beach. Nobody is harassing you. We could use clean toilet and shower in the next cottage. The owner Edy and Selma are very friendly and helpful. Edy build new nice cottages, which are be perfect for this climate.
If you don’t find the place, ask somebody. Everybody knows it. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite, right on a quiet beach. Selma the owner is fantastic. Bit difficult to locate as the road is not on any maps, but locals know the place in case you miss a sign. We were the only guests so camping was quiet, if there are more people it can get a bit crowded around your tent/car since you park next to the bar.

Report Check-In

A very relaxed place indeed. Selma is pure zen. We could use the facilities of a nearby cottage, but it wasn't very clean and hot water was on and off. It had a bit off a run down feeling, but you get a very quiet place in return. Having a braai with view on the beach is so special. The seawater was brownish because of the rains, but that is apparently just temporary.

Report Check-In

Really nice place if you fancy a nice lonely beach and great food made by owner Eddy. Not the easiest to reach with a big rig but we managed and parked right next to the beach. It is hot in feb but there is always a nice breeze from the late morning through the night.
Not the cheapest but well worth it.

Report Check-In

Nice spot in the dunes, quiet beach with some kite surfing. Food delicious, served at the tent. Owner Selma and her husband are friendly.

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach nobody ist bothering you. You can camp with your vehicule right next to the bar.
It can busy and your privacy and calmness can get disturbed. You can sit under the low trees in the shade but not your car. For the toilet you have to walk up to the restaurant. The openairshower ist also up there. Facilities are rather basic for the price of 800 ksh ppn.
If they make you a charcolfire in the nearby kitchen: 300 ksh.
Anyway we stayed 5 days because the best option at the whole coast of Kenia.
