we found this spot while looking for the road pull out spot on ioverlander. There were locals camping by the side of the sea/lake so we found the road going down, opened the gate and drove down. Locals told us we could camp and make fires at the spot with no problems. Not much fire wood but the closest house gave us some wood for free. Absolutely scenic views and a perfect place to camp. Almost all the locals come for daytime only so quiet at night.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
You have to open the gate directly after the last house.
There was a woman in her car, we asked her if we could go there and she said yes.
Difficult to find a flat place, we managed with rocks from firepits.
We didnt spend time outside as there were so many mosquitos.
Even in the morning we had to escape quickly because hundreds were already in the car.
I have been around Puerto Natales for 3 weeks and this has been my favorite campspot in the area! The first gate on the main road is still openable, but as someone else said, there is another gate further down and this one is locked, so you cannot reach the marker. Still, it's only 200m away and the view is jusy as amazing just before the gate. There is a fire pit here as well. There is a hole in the fence by the beach and locals cross through to go have a picnic on the other side, but to me, a locked gate means no tresspassing so I stayed on the other side.
The next morning, I was surrounded by sheeps and they were pretty loud. BAAH!
Report Check-InVery camping spot by the lake with epic views of the mountains (weather permits) It can get VERY windy! Check the weather and wind forecast before hand.
Report Check-InThere is a new fence and a locked gate. You can‘t go as far the point is.
However, we just parked in front of the fence and enjoyed the view to the mountains. Very quiet at a friday night.
Really nice spot and very quiet. A lot of wind today but its Patagonia.
Report Check-InGreat spot just in front of the calm sea and the mountains behind.
No wood for fire
The place is a bit lower (coming from puerto natales) than shown. There is just one gate after the last house so you can't miss it.
This night we were alone and that's good because there is not so many flat spots for the van.
We recommend :-) !!
Be careful there is a duck nest in the middle of the grass
Report Check-InThe GPS Location update doesn't work if you use maps.me. Open the gate on your left side (by Puerto Natales) after the last house 🙂
Really nice place to camp at the side of the sea lake. "Open the gate and drive down". (It's true, we asked to the locals, it's not a private area, many locals during the weekend but really quiet at night). Highly recommended !
