Description

Amazing campsite (4000MK) on the beach with parking for campers. Very quiet and peaceful. Few minutes walk to the port to catch the Ilala ferry. Food is very good. Can hire canoe or have boat trip to a mystical island. Friendly staff. If backpacking, drop off at Chilumba crossroad and either take a car or walk (about 30 minutes). Signs along the way. Worth the detour. Great stop before Levingstonia or Tanzania. Every Friday, traditional dancing at bar or village center. You can contact Alfred Mapunda at 0888301383 or 0997380101 or [email protected]

We don't use Camping. We booked one of the five rooms. The rooms are very basic but clean and we don't need more. The staff is more than friendly and very helpful. You can see the work of the fishermen. The food was very good! We had a problem with our car and Alfred - the owner helps us to find a mechanical. Together we found the little problem!

Comfortable and clean room 20k right on the beach. Alfred's wife Elizabeth is a great cook and recommend trying her dishes. Great place to relax for a couple of days. Just ensure you clarify all costs for food in advance to avoid misunderstandings when it's bill payment time.

I came here on the eve on the ferry so needed a place to chill. Alfred let me have one of the rooms for 10,000 for the evening. Took a shower, chilled, ate food and then rode to the ferry before 2 am.

It's a bit difficult to find because there is more than one track. The owner, Alfred, is very helpful and friendly. There is a lovely variety of shade trees on a pleasant beach, with rustic wooden tables.
But just across the bay is a bar. Expect music, perhaps all night.
