Good place to get rid of all the salt on your car after the salar. They have a high pressure water system and clean your car very thoroughly for 20B.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Lavador auto service, lavamos por baixo e por fora e passaram óleo por baixo antes de entrar no Salar
Report Check-In20Bs to rinse it down yourself. Seems like the best option but will have it done again when I have the opportunity. Still a good rinse and well worth it.
Report Check-InIn May 2022, 10bol do it yourself, 20bol he does. Not so much pressure in the morning because of frozen water, better during the afternoon.
Report Check-InLavado with pressure hose, plenty of pressure to wash off all the salt from the salar (we were on our way to the Laguna Ruta). Bs.30 for self cleaning, there's a ramp so you can clean the underside of the car well. Nice lady, she let us fill up our water, and was curious to see the inside of the car. Very friendly!
Report Check-In10bobs for a motorcycle, and they let me do it myself. Really nice people👍🏻
Report Check-InPressure hose, 30b for self-washing, 60b for them to do it. A cold morning lead us to have them do it, negotiated for 50b and we ended up leaving a propina for the good work.
Report Check-InSympa lavage négocié à 30 b pour laver moi même notre camping car avec beaucoup de pression.
Report Check-InWe planned to wash our car here after entering the Salar from the North and continuing down to lagunas Road.
They told us the entire town has no water because the pump is frozen and they sent us to San Juan south.
We asked around there, but there is NO carwash in San Juan. Because of all the salt we wanted something with high pressure which we didn't find even asking almost everyone in town. One lady even told us that they were not allowed to use the water for car washing because of a shortage in the area.
We continued to San Pedro de Atacama but even there is no proper car wash. There is one next to the aduana but they couldnt do the undercarriage.
So we continued to the great car wash in Calama (El Che on iOverlander).
This is just a heads up If you are planning a similar route... ;)
Why bother. You have plenty of salt flats to cross getting out of there and if you are heading for Chile, a lot of gypsum roads as well
