Description

Beautiful place on the beach at a lagoon with plenty of palm trees. To get there, take the track branching off the main road at 25.515425, -111.081926; it's suitable for almost any kind of vehicle. Make sure not to take the one farther east: there is no way to the beach. It took us hours to help other people out who got stuck in a 2WD camper van there (we winched them out eventually).

I tried to go here but my 11’4” Sprinter was too tall. I made it all the way through to the second farmers house but there was a tree with thick branches that was too dicey for me to try and get under without damaging either my van or their property.
Doing a 4 point turn to leave damaged my back bumper pretty badly on the brush.
The first farmer came outside and gave me a letter written in English asking for money.

Wow! A tropical palm tree oasis on the beach. A spot for a tent up on the beach just to the left when you reach the end of the road/lagoon. Seabirds and dolphins all day and if it’s windy you could probably camp back from the beach along the road. 2wd okay but probably not towing or RVs. Firewood for days and tranquil Mexico vibes! To the left along the beach is a palapa and a sandy beach that a 4x4 could probably access.
Beautiful ocean and mountain and easily a place you could stay a week+

Oh and yes you do have to drive past the farmers home to get here. Be friendly and pick up garbage. No cell. Found yellow scorpions among wood at camp.

We took the turn-off at exactly the coordinates described. The road was well worn but went straight into someone’s fenced-in yard/house after about a 1/3 of a mile. No one was around so we couldn’t ask anyone. I recall only one other barely worn road forking off of this side road, but it was forking to the west and didn’t look great so we gave up and backtracked.

It took us 1.5+ hours to get here from MX1 in our Chevy camper van (driving slow and carefully over the awful road). I would NOT take big rigs down this side road, (or even to Agua Verde in general, ha) - it was narrow and there were tons of low hanging branches. We got lots of scratches.

Nice place when tide is up! very quiet and isolante.

the bad thing is the road to drive here : many dust, rock and washboard for the main road to agua verde. You have To know that all beach acces are sandy (some deep sand part) it's better to have a 4wheel drive and deflate the tire.

you have to cross some farmer properties : better ask them to camp and the way to the beach.

we try go to "wild camping beach" spot, but we were unable to cross the last little dune just before the beach.

edit : when we go back we find a better acces to the beach: when you are on the main road to Agua Verde just turn left when there is some cairn. easy drive

we drove on the beach and camped there. The sand is quiet deep, no chance without 4WD. Even with 4WD you have to be careful, but it's very quiet, even in the eastertime.

We were planning to go to the site called 'Wild Camping at the Beach' but didn't find the turn onto the track leading down. So we finally ended up at this place.

We made it in our high clearance, 4WD, 24 ft and 7.5 ton Unimog camper, but .... it was a tough 2.5 hr drive (incl. photostops of approx. 15 mins in total) for the 30 km of bad gravel road and we now have a few more scratches on the cabin (12.5 ft high) and lost one of our LED lights. So be prepared when you drive here in a similar sized vehicle.
Was it worth the effort? We saw a group of dolphins twice, a couple of other sea birds, springing and flying fish, a cow in the middle of the track and a group of them crossing our site in the morning, some pigs and only heard the sound of the waves.
It's a nice scenery bur we would probably not go there again with our big rig.
