super nice place to stay near to Huaraz, perfect for visit te Lagunas nearby (for example Laguna 69)
Host is very kind, the bathrooms are one of the best I saw in SA. (Still 25 soles pP)

Report Check-In

While we were still trying to figure out where to go with our camper truck, the host (senor Jaime?) came out to show us the way and gave us a very friendly welcome.
Very clean bathrooms, good WiFi, electricity, potable water - what else do we need?

He reserved a taxi for us to go to Laguna Paron the next morning. 1.5 hr drive up, 2 hrs to climb the mirador and explore the lake (we would have preferred 3 hrs (as senor Jaime told us), but we’re above 65 and not the fittest. So we only climbed the mirador and looked at the lake from the to refugio). We paid PEN 250 (which probably was overpriced) plus PEN 5 pp for entering the park, but we were there early (left at 8am) and more or less had the place to ourselves. When we left around 12am the tour busses were going up.

Report Check-In

We ended up spending over two weeks here and used it as a basecamp to visit the national park. It was so nice to have a place to return to for a hot shower after a long hike. Yes, the flow is low on the shower but the temperature is perfect! Every night we spent here was silent and relaxing.

Report Check-In

Great place as described in the comments here. Jaime keeps his high standards!

Report Check-In

Stay one night here. Very quiet. We paid 50 soles for 2 adults and 2 children 11 and 5. Shower warm and clean. Still a good place to have some peaceful after hiking

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay and work on the car or make trips to laguna 69 or Paron.
The showers (water pressure) is not so good. On the camp spot are everywhere dog shit. Good ist place for wash clothes (big sink) The place is quite (but there are cabanas next to the camp spot. So if locals are there it can get quite loud with the music.). Caraz is in walking distance but has nothing much to offer.

We liked much more Huaraz. The camping there was nicer and the city has more to offer.

Report Check-In

Great campsite.Shower warm not hot as it is suicide showers. very clean food at restaurant is ok, meat was quite dry. WiFi is fast when it works but not that reliable as it comes and goes.

Report Check-In

We wanted to stay a night or two and ended up staying two weeks. If you plan to visit Laguna Paron and 69 or do a few hikes this campground and Caraz are the perfect base. Caraz is much nicer than Huaraz and Jaime is the perfect host, always there and helping. He organized us a driver so we did not have to move our truck all the time, helped to organize a guide with donkey and horse so we could do the Santa Cruz Trek independently. We loved every day of our stay. The grounds are spacious, bathrooms super clean, Wifi fast and washing machine really washes clean ( all thing’s important for a pit stop😉). Our kids and dog were super happy. Caraz is a very pretty town with everything you might need and one of our favorite places in Peru so far ( traveling south). Soak in all the cordillera Blanca magic!

Report Check-In

Nicely equipped place and Jaime helped us with transportation to 2 lagunas. Just like all comments say.. but… without any warning (and we payed up front), there was a party (on a Tuesday) with very, very loud music on the grounds of the camping, which already started in the early afternoon and didn’t seem to stop or turn down the music, even though there were only ten people left when we drove out.
Earplugs did not work, and we were very tired, so at 00:30 we left for the policestation. I think the other 2 Overlanders couples, one car and one motorcycle, weren’t happy either.

Report Check-In

a quiet and safe place to be in the mountains, from here you can do several routes. Jaime is kind and helps you. hot shower.

un sitio tranquilo y seguro para estar en las montañas, desde acá puedes hacer varias rutas. Jaime es amable y te ayuda. ducha caliente.

Report Check-In

We ended up staying 3 nights. Jaimie is very friendly, so are the dogs. They also have great food on sundays and a bit of a party.

Toilets/bathrooms are clean, hot shower, electricity outlets anywhere you park (220v)

Very peaceful place

Report Check-In

Stayed here two night. A very calm and lovely place to stay. The owner is very helpful and these are cleaned washrooms you will have ever come across in a campsite. Hot showers and big kitchen sink. He also had laundry but it’s wash only and the price was 30 soles which we negotiated down a bit because we had 3 loads. 20 soles per person per night still. Dog friendly but the dry grass has the prickly things which you should be careful about. Overall a lovely stay. Thanks Jaime

Report Check-In

Highly recommended!! best place we had in Peru so far, super clean and lovely owner!

Report Check-In

As others have mentioned a good place to stay. Covered pavilion with lights. Big double sink for dish washing. Super clean his and her bathrooms. Level parking, no height concerns. Washing machine under the pavilion. Dog friendly.

Paid 20s a night and 30s per load of laundry ( big new machine).

To make it even better? Hot water at the kitchen sink. Better pressure in the showers. A kitchen with range. Also, and this is probably seasonal but there were a LOT of sand burs. Picked a lot of them out of her paws. Really bothered Dixie.

Clean, safe and quiet. I’d definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

Adding photos of the property including the horse stables

Report Check-In

One of the top places we have stayed in 14 countries so far. Friendly host. Super clean and Tranquilo. Lots of 220V outlets. Clean water. Hot showers. Short walk to town. ENTRANCE INFO: Driving south from Caraz take the first road just past the new hospital that is being built (turns into their driveway). We took the second road and it was a bit tight to turn in and get by one tree. Adding lots of pictures.

Report Check-In

Nice camping, first real one in Peru. Lot of electricity outlets, new and nice bathroom however no one cleaned them during our stay(4nights!) and no toilet paper or soap, hot shower but low pressure. Paid 40s/2p/n. You can use washing machine for 30s - seems a bit expensive.

Report Check-In

Dormimos 4 noites aqui!

Report Check-In

Ficamos três noites aqui. Lugar sensacional, acolhedor, seguro e tranquilo! Banheiros super limpos. Ótimo wi-fi.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for one night as the only guests. Very quiet. Friendly host and cute dog (great dane named Kim).
The bathrooms and showers were very clean and spacious. Good water pressure.
Cold at night but you can park in front of the building to get shielded from the wind.

Report Check-In

Great campsite. Clean facilities, fast wifi. When you arrive when Jaime is not there, just pitch your camp. Thats fine for him. Really cool spot to stay.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for a night and met three other overlanders, three different rigs, all Germans. They stayed a few nights. This place is great. The owner caters to travelers from out of the country, saying to us that he finds them to be mas tranquilo and they are wanting to relax and sleep and not fiesta all night. We certainly enjoyed our stay, so after a night up at Laguna Paron, we came back! Good water, great bathrooms and warm electric showers (clean, large, with toilet papers, basically brand new with beautiful construction), very strong and fast wifi. Washer and laundry hanging lines. Big rig friendly. There are two entrances and we found the entrance off the 3N that’s further West to be easier. The property is surrounded by flower growers and other farms. Very calm. Well off the road. Super safe. Warm and kind employees and owner. Awesome.

Report Check-In

As said in the comments, very nice campside. Used the laundry for 20 sol and could park our car here 3 days when we were off to walk the Santa Cruz for 20 sol per night

Report Check-In

there aren't any signs so you might think you are in the wrong spot, but this is it. washing machine 20s per load. TDS tester reads 33ppm so it's actually pretty good. maybe it's the time of the year but lots of thorny plants in the camping area got caught in our shoes and dogs paws. otherwise, very nice.

Report Check-In

As described, very nice grassy campsite with beautiful and clean facilities (and hot showers). There is drinking water to fill your tank, and fast WiFi. While we were at Laguna Paron, Jaime even had our tire bag repaired in the village! Amazing. Still 20 pppn.

Report Check-In

It’s all been said and is true! Very good washing machine, drinking water (no problems for us after 3 days drinking) that you can fill your tank with your hose, fast internet, beautiful bathhouse with hot suicide type showers and an incredible host that will help you in any way you need. We found the lane to the north with a wooden sign easier access for longer wheel base vehicles. The more southern lane with a white sign is also do-able, but has a tight turn and an irrigation canal hazard that we preferred to avoid. The more guests he has, the more likely it is the kitchen can get built!

Report Check-In

This is a campground you hope to find. Its well organized and facilities + wifi is perfect. We stayed 4 nights and paid 20 pppn. But its worth it. Walking distance to Caraz. Jaime can arrange a taxi to Laguna Paron if you want. Only bad thing.. when we wanted to leave after 4 nights we discovered that our leveling blocks were missing. We searched the whole place with sadly they were gone. Jaime was surprised, this was never happened before. But just for your info.

Report Check-In

We could confirm the previous comments, toilets are very clean and hot showers. Jaime helped us to weld a part of my motorbike. His friend has a nearby workshop for motorbikes where we let fix some things.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, with horses, meadows, the owner Jaime is very friendly and helpful, very clean bathrooms and showers (hot, but little pressure), worth every sol (20 pp/night incl. car)

Report Check-In

this place is fantastic and Jaime is awesome. it's a great place to camp and relax. we may stay a few days it's so chill.

Report Check-In

Fantastic place! Jaime is a great host, super friendly and accommodating, the facilities are great and location spot on I highly recommend. Price is now S.20pp/pn

Report Check-In

As described new price 40 soles for 2 persons and one truck. Jaime is very helpful. If planning to come here, bring some catfood, they look a bit skinny....

Report Check-In

Best bathrooms we've ever come across! We were charged 20S pp, but the views and privacy were so worth it. Lots of outlets and about 20MBPS internet.

Report Check-In

Absolutely lovely place to stay. Jaime hasn’t seen anyone since before the pandemic and seemed excited to welcome us here! 15 s/p still & an option to leave the vehicle here while trekking. Everything you could need!

Report Check-In

To stay at Jaimes Camping was a gift for us. It's such a wonderful place to camp with grassy field, nice views, hot showers, drinkable water and last but not least a very hospitable owner.
We arrived close before the total lockdown because of the corona-crisis. During these days we felt very very safe. Jaime always informed us with news about behaviour rules and what to be expected next.
We will come back as soon as possible. Thanks for everything!

Report Check-In

One of the best campsites we have stayed on our trip. Super squeaky clean bathrooms, very nice & private, quiet and safe. Plus Jaime is a star. What more could you ask for.

Report Check-In

Really nice spot with lots of room, quiet, great views and THE CLEANEST bathrooms in any campsite we have visited. Wifi was fine and it is a 1 SOL minibus ride to town - they pass by regularly. Jaime is a very nice host. 15 SOL pp pn. Best place in Caraz.

Report Check-In

Great place. Stayed seven nights. Weak but hot showers. Jaime is friendly. Very quiet at night. Safe.

Report Check-In

Added: went to Laguna Paron with taxi due to rough road. Took road to Laguna 69 and the pass with our camper van, was fine. Trip to Laguna 69 shared with lots of people on a Sunday. Was worth it.
Camping still 15S ppn.

Report Check-In

One of the best campgrounds in South America. Jaime is a very nice host and knows the area well. Best hot shower and very clean bathroom. Perfect location to explore NP Huascaran like LLaguna

Report Check-In

Awesome place, best bathroom facilities in all of south america. Lovely people, they can organize for you to visit laguna paron by cab if you don't want to put your vehicule through the rough ride up there. Friendly dog on site, our dogs no issue (even in the cab). Perfectly lovely and secure camp site.

Report Check-In

For us it’s one of the best official campgrounds so far in South America. Very clean and modern bathrooms. Hot showers but unfortunately no pressure. Super-fast wi-fi! We really enjoyed and spent 2 nights.

Report Check-In

Nothing to add a good place for spending a few days.

Report Check-In

We loved it here. 15 soles per person per night. Jaime is so nice. The WiFi will reach your van, clean toilets, sinks, and hot showers, and a covered area where you can set up your cooking equipment, pack for your hikes, or just sit in the shade to relax. We walked to town in 15 minutes. We definitely recommend it!

Report Check-In

This is a really quiet campground and superb place to relax after long travel stints. Jaime is a really friendly and welcoming host. Water from the tap is potable. It's easy to walk into town from here and a moto taxi costs 3 Soles now to get back. Camping costs are still 15 s/person. Well worth the money! There is a daily market in Caraz with fresh fruit and vegetables. We stayed 6 days here.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping zone with flat grassy area, well equipped, clean toilets and hot shower. Good wifi. Very good location, quiet. Little playground for children. Jaime is a kind and helpful host. Perfect place to discover Cordillera Blanca, we recommend !

Report Check-In

This is a very good place to stay a few days. Nice owner, many plugs, nice bathrooms. If you come from Caraz you shouldn't take the road with the wooden guadalupe sign, drive one further. The road with the big white sign is the way to go.

Report Check-In

Best campsite in this part of the world, quite, green, clean, friendly, save, we enjoyed it very much! Muchas gracias Jaime!

Beautiful campground ! The owner Jaime is very friendly (he has 5 horses for « concursos de paso peruanos).

You can park your car on the grass, they’re is electricity, water, toilets and showers very clean, very good WIFI. You can use BBQ too (there is all you need)

Next to Caraz, only 2soles by tuck-tuck the way or 25 mns by walking. Very good market and there is a BCP bank !

15 soles pp / night. If you do the trek you can park your car in the camping and take a collectivo (near the market) since 6 AM for 12 soles pp to go to Cashapampa only 1 hour of raod (best to start the Santa Cruz trek in this point !)

Enjoy and go and this peaceful place (you can by strawberries directly in the camp for 4 soles / kg)

Report Check-In

Excellent option, safe, clean bathrooms, hot showers and nice people-overlanders around. Jaime was just great.

Report Check-In

Totally recommendable! Clean and it has everything you need as an overlander!

Report Check-In

Very nice campground, enough space in front of the house for our big rig (7,85 m long, 2,50 m wide, 3,60 m high). Wifi works good. Bathroom very clean, but no TP.
15 S/person/night
Colectivo to Caraz 1 S
We made two tours with Pariah - one to the Puya Raimondi and the second to Laguna Perón. He drives carefully and showed and explained many things. He only speaks spanish, but he speaks clear and slow, so we could understand him most times with our poor spanish. And in the other cases he tried to explain it in other words.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite. Lots of space, all grassed; electricity available, new and clean toilets and showers, a friendly dog and inquisitive kitty too. 30spn but totally worth it!

Report Check-In

Really nice place! Great, clean bathroom, still no tp, and barely any water pressure, but hot showers! Fast WiFi and many outlets. Still 15pp.

*If you don’t want to take your van up to Laguna 69, on the other side of the carretera you can take a colectivo to Yungay bus stop/terminal for 2.50, and from there take another colectivo to the start of the trail for 15 (the colectivo makes a stop at the park entrance so you can pay entrance fee, 30).

Report Check-In

We agree with the positive reviews below. However, in the 4 days we were there, the toilets and showers haven’t been cleaned and I don’t think they have been cleaned right before our arrival.

Report Check-In

Perfect place to take a break from driving. Close to town and the various treks. Spent 3 nights.

Report Check-In

We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful camp. Easy access to town for shopping, laundry or restaurants. Great place to meet other overlanders. Didn't find a washing machine, but there is a sink to do laundry.

Report Check-In

Perfect place for Overlanders. Big parking place, clean bathrooms, warm showers and place for to clean dishes. Quiet, safe and friendly owner. Good price. Fast wifi. Totaly recomended.

Report Check-In

We stayed one week on this beautiful campground. Very clean, quiet and in a beautiful environment. Very good place for trips in the beautiful Cordillera Blanca and Negra. Taxi to Mercado and Plaza de Armas costs 3 soles.

Report Check-In

Spot parfait !
Soyez prudents

Report Check-In

one of the best camp spots I've stayed in South America. meticulously clean, new bathrooms, hot showers. fast internet, 15 suns per person. it is well worth it

Report Check-In

Very nice campground - Lovely owner, nice and hot showers, clean bathrooms, very good WIFI. 15 soles pp per night. our recommendation: ask Jaime for a trip to laguna Paron, it is a bit more expensive than the offers in Caraz but you have a bus for your own and a very nice driver. also take a tuck tuck and visit the mercado in Caraz - it is amazing!

Report Check-In

Large grass and flat area big rigs welcome, electricity, hot showers, normal wifi, banos, dish sink, very clean and new. Jaimie friendly. Very quiet, no dogs barking, no roads nearby, total silence for your night. Jaimie knows a taxi to go to Laguna Paron more expensive than tourism agency but private for you. 6h trip. In Caraz this is the place to park...

Report Check-In

In terms of comfort it’s one of the better campsites of South America in case you have your own kitchen. WiFi router just next to you camper, so really fast. Very clean sanitary, European standards. Walking distance to town, very quiete and very friendly and helpful owner.

Report Check-In

Place very well designed to overlanders. Very nice place and staff. $15 Soles p/p. Good wifi. 220v electricity.

Muy bien diseñado para overlanders. Agradable lugar y staff. $15 soles por persona. Buen internet. 220v de electricidad.

Report Check-In

Muy tranquillo. Very safe. Spent 2 very quiet nights here. Nice washrooms but little water pressure in the shower. It’s a nice place to relax. We didn’t meet the owner; the house was vacant while we were here. No one around to collect money so we paid the people that tend the fields in the house next door. There’s a fig tree by the horse stables - lots of figs on the ground and we collected a few for the road.

Report Check-In

Nice and quite aera everything are clean and are operate. Exceptional in south America, jaime is very friendly.

Report Check-In

Best place so far in Peru (coming from north). Baños have western standard. Shower really hot. Whole place super clean with great privacy. Really fast internet / WiFi reach the car. Jaimie is a helpful guy and Caraz a nice little village. Good outdoor sink, but the kitchen is not ready yet. Washingmachine still out of order, but there is a good lavanderia in town. Don‘t miss the pitoresque market in Caraz. 6 Soles for a tuck-tuck to drive into town-center.

Report Check-In

This is a good place to stay in Caraz. The installations are the most well made we’ve encountered during our trip! It would be even nicer with a kitchen and toilet paper :) There was hot showers when we were there. We didn’t interacted a lot with the owners. Wifi works great.

Report Check-In

Yes this is a safe place to stay and meet other overlanders. But we did not find the bathrooms or shower to be clean even after I told Jamie they were dirty. Also, for us the suicide shower was never hot and had very low water pressure. Very expensive for what it is but seems to be the only option for an established campground in the area.
S/15pp pn. Wifi very good. No toilet paper. Wash machine broken when we were there.

Report Check-In

Super camping très propre et calme. Toilette et douche chaude. Personne d’autre que nous! Jaime et sa famille sont très discrets. Dommage que la machine à laver est en panne !

Nice hot shower, really clean, good WiFi and sympathic owners.

Report Check-In

perfect campsite!
- great WiFi
- hot showers
- beautiful toilets
- potable water
- beautiful surroundings
- clean modern facilities

Report Check-In

Well, during our stay this time, we had a Peruvian couple camp and also Argentinian and French families. This place is for overlanders because they generally are respectful, courteous, considerate, and quiet. Not allowed are weekend campers who only come to party.
The new bathrooms and showers are completed and very well done. The place is far enough from town to be quiet, yet close enough to walk to the market. 15 soles pp is fair, especially compared to some other places charging the same. The little store of Doña Vicky is the closest to the campground along the main road on the right as you approach town. Good bread available there every morning, and she and her friendly husband will treat you like locals.

Report Check-In

Loved it!

Bathrooms were super clean and beautifully built. Wifi good enough to get life together without leaving van. No kitchen.

Great weather all year round.

10/10 bunnies.

Report Check-In

overrated and they do not allowed Peruvians

Report Check-In

Lovely place!! Came highly recommended to us by other overlanders and didn't dissapoint. 15 soles pp for some rather luxurious facilities in a tranquil setting. Beautiful green grass... what a novelty! Very friendly owner. We loved it here :)

Report Check-In

Still 15 soles pp. 5 year old free. Bunnies and horses to feed along with all the great things everyone else reports. Stayed 9 days and didn't realize that much time had passed! Connection allowed us to stream World Cup games!! Short walk to town, even found the hat store where all the local women get those tall hats!

Report Check-In

Amazing overlanders meeting point! Top infrastructure, sockets everywhere, a number of toilets and showers available, clean, hot shower, potable water to fill the tanks, washing machine, dry, quiet, safe, relaxing and well managed. 15soles/person. Relatively close to town, you can easily get a tuk tuk for groceries shopping at the local market. Very good vibe!

Report Check-In

Same as previous comments, the bathroom/shower area does look fancy. The shower water is warm enough but there's no temperature control and the pressure is low. 15S a person.

Report Check-In

Amazing place! Maybe the best we have stayed in our 6 months trip.
New bathrooms and showers. Everything very clean.
They also have a very fast wifi and electricity. You have a big sink to wash everything you want and laundry.
And of course, its located in a very quiet and beautiful spot, full of green grass.

Report Check-In

This is a “dream place.” Bathroom/shower complex could be in any fine hotel. Once word gets out, it may be hard to get a spot here, it will be so full!

Report Check-In

As described-an amazing place. Great shower block. Quiet Grassy area for camping/parking. Shops and town an easy walk away or 2Soles to the bigger dry food tuijillo supermarket. Owner is helpful, the family dog is the most tranquille (female) dog we’ve met! Quick WiFi, laudary can be done for 20soles for 6kg.

Like everyone has said, lovely place to stay before and after Lake Paron and just to chill for a few days. The kitchen still has a way to go but Jamie is working on it poco a poco. Still 15pp/pn

Report Check-In

Great camspite with beautiful views. Brand new washrooms with hot shower. Jaime thr owner is very friendly. Washing machine for 20/s per load. We very much enjoyed it here. about 20 min walk to town or take tuk tuk. Definitely recommend. Resident dog is a sweetheart.

Report Check-In

Well, this place is the best we‘ve ever been!! So nice, clean and new.
The pics shown here must be very old. He has new bathrooms (so beautiful!) and a washing maschine now (20 SOL/w) - he is also building a new kitchen. I guess it will be finished around Jan/Feb 2018. Fast WiFi, fresh at night and almost no Moskitos :-) Jaime is more than friendly. We stayed for five nights!

Report Check-In

Loved it here - so chill, grass, hot shower, wifi, strawberries, and the best of all - Turka the dog. And of course Jaime is the nicest person ever.

You will come for one night and end up staying for 5... it's hard not to !!

Caraz is a cool little town and all the best hikes / trips to the National Park are so much closer than from Huaraz. You can also easily arrange transport to / from Santa Cruz trek. Plus Pony Expeditions in town can rent you gear if you don't have it.

Report Check-In

Great bathroom. Excellent host; friendly but leaves you alone when you wish. 3 soles moto taxi ride back from walk into town.

Report Check-In

Everything everyone says about Jaime and his staff is not enough. This is a great guy and a great camp. Hard to just stay one night, very appealing to stay for over a couple of nights. Walking distance to town, relaxed area... great wifi and shower.

Report Check-In

This place ends up feeling like home. Hot showers, nice grassy areas, good wifi, a huge dish washing sink with perpetually temperate weather and lots of overlander friends. Jaime is the ultimate problem solver and his beautiful family is so warm and accommodating. It's a great quiet location close to town and also to some great hikes and climbs.

Report Check-In

We loved staying here. Such great weather, Jaime is super nice, everything you need. Collectivo to centro and markets less than 1s, mototaxi 2 soles.

Report Check-In

Perfect place to stay for some nights. He is building new bathrooms for more people as well as a new Kitchen house (in future). Flat parking on a grassy area, everything is clean and the WiFi is very good. 15 Soles p.P.. You could also leave your car for 15 Soles a night and go hiking at the lagunas. Recommended stay!

This place is really lovely, especially if you want to visit Laguna Paron. Flat parking, showers, wifi and electricity. Quiet at night and an easy walk to town.

Report Check-In

Been here almost a month now...it's the perfect spot to base yourself for all the amazing things to do and see in the Cordillera Blanca!! Plus the owner is very friendly, the place is beautiful, the wifi is fast, and the little town of Caraz is so much more mellow than Huaraz. (Definitely hit up the Sunday market - you can find almost everything there!!) 15s per person and, if you leave your car, 15s/day...

Report Check-In

This definitely is one of the best places we've stayed so far. The shower is hot, wifi fast, and Jaime is super friendly (so is Turka the dog). Only bummer is that we didn't run into any other overlanders while we were here.

Report Check-In

Camping Guadelupe is one of the best places we've stayed in our entire trip. Super peaceful, incredibly clean bathroom, fast wifi, electricity hookup, and Turka- the worlds friendliest dog. Yet all this is dwarfed by how friendly and helpful Jaime is. He never hesitated to stop and give us mountains of info about the region, and suggestions on the route ahead. Super safe place to store the vehicle for trekking. Our only regret is that we can't stay longer.

Report Check-In

One of the better places we've stayed. Jamie is endlessly helpful. He loves overlanders, taking photos of the different setups, & having people here. We asked him for a recommendation for a mechanic to fix our roof rack and he dropped everything to fix it himself within an hour. He also has good info on the surrounding area & the Santa Cruz trek (this is a great place to leave your rig for the trek). Super nice dog & adorable daughters, as well as perfect wifi & an impeccably clean bathroom. Don't miss it!

Report Check-In

Excellent. Still 15 s pp pn. Jaime came round to check everything was ok. New development should be ready around July 2017. He also told us about a road blocked by a landslide on our route and telephoned to find out if it was cleared. If you return from Caraz town in a motor taxi just get dropped at the main road as Jaime doesn't like them coming down the track to the drive (presumably for security reasons).

Wonderful place to spend a few days recharging. Perfect facilities for campers, and the Internet is impressively fast ([Password removed by moderator.]). Do yourself a favor and stop by when you are in the area.

Report Check-In

Awesome place. We arrived at night and in the dark it looked a bit nondescript but after we found Jaime and he showed us around we immediately felt very welcome. Jaime is incredibly friendly, dedicated and thorough in everything he does. Internet is fastfast, shower and bathroom very nice and clean, potable water, nice grass, place to wash dishes etc. Jaime is very knowledgeable about the area and can help you get started to plan any treks. Also a good place to park your car if doing the santa cruz trek. Ps he also let us use his nice bbq day after day. Recommended!

Report Check-In

Very nice place to relax. there is a really nice bbq we used to make communal dinners with fellow overlander. fast internet.

Report Check-In

perfect place to camp with fastest wifi since long time! if you want to store your vehicle (if you do a multi day hike or so) you pay 10soles per day per camper for storage.

Report Check-In

Yes, this rapidly is becoming a meeting point for overlanders. Indeed, Jaime reserves this place for overlanders only, and it is quiet, safe, comfortable, like an oasis. We stayed two weeks. The new facilities are scheduled to be finished by years end. They will have several toilets for women and men with separate showers, i. e. toilets accessible when showers are in use and vice versa. New ample kitchen doubling as a gathering place and more level grassy parking spaces. A washer and dryer will be set up also.

Report Check-In

A great friendly clean place to meet other Overlanders. Thx Jaime, well done!
In December 2016 he will finish a new building with a kitchen, a sanitary block and a laundry incl dryer!
Seems to be a new Overlander meeting point in Peru!

Très bon emplacement avec toutes les facilités. Jaime, le propriétaire est très aidant et attentionné. Il y a même un dump pour vider les eaux noires.

15s/p, warm showers, flat, decent wifi. Nice facilities. Definitely recommended after hiking in the Cordilleras. The owner is building additional baños, kitchen, washing facilities. It's going to be very nice when done. Owner is okay with late night arrivals.

We could have just not written anything and let all the other comments speak for themselves but really Jaime, Flore and their little (quickly developing) camping is worth a great review. Welcoming, helpful, very well equipped (hot showers, super clean facilities, diy laundry, water, electricity, wifi) for 15S pp. what else do you need? Also Jaime knows the best mechanics in town and took the time to take us and talk money before we do any repairs.

Report Check-In

All that you need: hot shower, clean toilet, flat green space to park, excellent wifi connection and a very friendly and helpful owner. All this for 15 soles pp. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Report Check-In

It's a nice, well-kept place with clean bathroom and hot shower (15 Soles / person). The wonderful host Jaime makes you feel at home. Besides he is a specialist in mechanical problems and helps you out with everything. Stay here or you miss something. From this place you can make a lot of fantastic trips, for example to the Laguna Parón, to the PN Huascarán, to the Lagunas Llaganuco, to the town Caraz (Sunday market),... From next week onwards there will be Internet at the Camping Guadalupe. So everything you need in a fantastic environment. Flat grassy spots, pets welcome and no hight restrictions.

Parked our van here while we hiked the Santa Cruz. Beautiful farm setting amongst fields of flowers. Jaime is the consummate gentleman, dropped us off at the collectivo in the early AM to start our trek, arranged for a much needed tire rotation, and even guided us to the shop. The nicest shower/toilet/urinal that we've had in S. America. The new kitchen and bathroom facility to be completed by the end of May.

Report Check-In

Perfect place as everybody mentioned. We also left our Van here (10S) while hiking for couple of days in the beautiful Cordillera Blanca - completely save! After no showers for days a great hot shower was already waiting for us. We can highly recommend to stay here!!

Beautiful setting and what a great spot to relax after driving through windiee tinny minny roads ...tranquil surrounded by nature mountains, flowers n strawberry fields. If you want to stretch your legs hike up to mirador is good. 3 hours return .. Go down main road via market, turn right at school. Shops at market may look small but we got delicious fruits blueberry, grapes, veggies at fraction of price ...

Great campground as described in all the comments below: clean facilities, hot water. Jaime was an unbelievable help with my tire/rim/security key issues! Definitely recommended to stay here.

Report Check-In

All as before and he is trying hard to get internet. Internet is available in the main plaza and is good from the balcony above the ice cream parlour (they also sell beer). Down loading emails very slow, but uploading photos to my web site was amazingly fast. If you are limited on time you must go to Laguna Paron, road not that bad and amazing views from the lake! surrounded by 8 mountains.

Report Check-In

Jaime and his wife are fantastic hosts: Jaime helped us fix our punctured tyres and his wife made a nice cake for our daughter's birthday. They would do anything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The place is very quiet. The only downside is that there is no wifi. We initially didn't plan to go but in the end we stayed 2 nights.

Fantastic place as described below. Jaime, the extremely friendly owner, offers all kind of day trips with his pick-up if you don't want to do the steep gravel roads with your own car. We made two wonderful day trips with him to the Laguna Paron and Lagunas Llanganuco (see photos). You also can store your car safely at the campground if you want to go hiking for a couple of days. More bathrooms and kitchen as well as cabanas are being planned to offer even more services for the guests. Jaime is extremely helpful with any kind of questions and problems that have to be solved. We stayed here more than one week and still didn't want to leave.

An awesome campground just outside of Caraz. Very friendly owner and a great spot. Great bathroom, hot shower, very secure. I dropped my reserve diesel tank off the back of my truck in the canyon approaching Caraz and smashed a large door mirror. Jaime got his mechanic to remove the bracket, get it re welded and reinstalled on a Sunday. Also got new glass cut for my mirror. Incredible assistance for very little cost. Camping is 20 soles per person per night and mechanic repairs incredible reasonable. Still no wifi, but don't let that stop you. it's one of the best I've parked at.
