Description

Great place to camp with the view of Salkantay and Humantay mountains. There are a few leveled grassy terraces (not wet since there is a little gravel) where you can park your car. Big rigs friendly.
No need to pay If you park in the streer
There's a toilet, very clean when we where here (no toilet seats)- not available If You park in the street
No electricity, no shower.
It's 30km since Mollepata on a good dirt road and a little narrow sometimes. Big rigs can manage to do it without problems.
This point is where the Laguna Humantay (~2.5km) trek begins. There's also the trek to the Salkantay pass.

Edit: the bathroom was closed in the morning. Quite stupid. So we recommend to stand on the street below the camping. Pretty flat terrain and very quiet at night

Edit may 27th. They charge now 10 s/ pp before entering Mollepata town, not big rig friendly!

Stayed here in July 18. There is now a chain and a big sign saying no passing for vehicles on the road about 1.5 km before the actual campground. We asked and were told to drive around the chain with our motorbike which we did - no problem whatsever. If your in a car/rig you will have to ask if someone can oprn the padlock holding up the chain or park on the (not so nice) parking next towhere the chain is. Not sure who has has the key and if they will let you pass..
Other than that really great place. Payed 10 soles for two persons, didnt pay anything in Mollepata as we drove threw the town at about 4.30 PM.

What an amazing place. We arrived the evening before to hike the Laguna the next day. From Mollepata we passed the boom via the parking area next to it. No one stopped us around 17.00/17.30 hr. We spent a beautiful quite night and woke up to a clear blue sky with amazing views. We followed the maps.me black hiking route instead of the white one. Challenging but more than worth the view at the Laguna, without absolutely no tourists but us. We hiked the whole loop and on our way back we saw bus loads of people's hiking the white trail up. Recommend to start hiking around 7 like we did and be back around 10 to beat the enormous crowds. When we got back there were at least 25 tourist vans.

Good place to spend the night at the beginning of the track to the wonderfull Laguna Humantay. It is the beginning of the salkantay Trek so also lots of tent campers nearby. We made it with our Kombi, good but a bit narrow road.

Definitely a great place to camp. We had the luck that there was a group in the morning and they had the key to the restrooms, otherwise they were closed
Awesome views of salkantay and humantay. 1.5 hr to hike up to the lagoon
