Description

Outside of Almolonga towards Zunil. Two Banos, El Recreo and Saludable. We visited El Recreo because we could stay overnight on their parking lot which is not visible from the road.
If you long for a long, very hot bath in your own private, big bath tub, you should visit one of these places.
El Recreo is under reconstruction and it looks as something closed down and not attractive at all.
They are open though, and they have a few reconstructed private bath tub rooms on offer. Nice and clean. You pay 30 Q for the tub for one hour, and we had enough room for the whole family of 5. All the very hot and cold water you like to use! As our giude book says: you could drown an elephant. We enjoyed it a lot!
Saludable looks better from the outside. Small bar etc. Different tub sizes available, 20-30 Q. Also a common inside pool for 20 per adult, 10 per child. Bath rooms are a little less attractive looking since they are older and maybe less clean.
You can sleep on their parking for free, too. At least thats what the actual guard told us. You are very close to the road, though, and visible.

Closed, after asking it seemed to be because of 'remodeling'.

if you are familiar with Japanese Onsens, you will love this place:) 30Q for newer renovated private tubs, 20Q for old a bit shabby ones. so go for the newer ones. 1 hour to relax and bathe. we asked about sleeping in the parking lot and it was no problem and felt safe (bit noisy in the morning with trucks beeping). also toilet use in the morning was possible and the owner was very nice and friendly. looks a bit closed up, but just go in and call for someone (they live on the upper floor).

Although this place doesn’t look all that open it is and it is wonderful!

Prices are on a board inside, we didn’t note all of them but were 25-60Q.

Free. Nice, helpfull owner. No night watchman but safe feeling anyway. Nice base camp for exploring the forest mountains around (vulcano). Hot bath in the place, hot water swimming pool to be opened soon. The owner, Leonel, is developing horse rides to the vulcano, hot springs "Fuentes Georginas" and surounding mountains. His partner, Don Pedro, is runing a woods reforestation proyect of endangered trees species. "Cabañas" in the forest soon to be availables. Afordable prices. It is a not turistic place, so you will find nobody but a few local people in the premises.

We went to Saludable across the street form Recreo. It was 40 for room with big tub, looked renovated, 20 for smaller tub room, little more rustic, this tub was still about 170x170cm big! We could spend as much time we wanted and as much hot/cold water we needed. Perfect relax after hiking Santa Maria. We didn't sleep here. Also next door is similar thing even with hotel rooms, looked more fancy than Saludable, but that was more authentic.
