Description

(1) Garage near towncentre.
Frank, the friendly owner, does the check-in, gives good advice and service.
They do everything on your vehicle. For repairing the leak in our exhaust they sent is to a specialist nearby.

(2) These came recommended as best in town. Well operated shop with 15 to 20 well trained guys working here. Owner Frank was very accommodating for us, we just arrived and he agreed to pull gearbox out immediately so that we could get clutch on that day's courier to the city for refurb. Frank then offered to tow our truck back to campsite so we had our 'home' to sleep in until clutch came back. Very nice guy, professional and very helpful garage. If you need mechanic, use this one.

They dropped what they were doing (very busy at the moment) to replace my brake discs so that I could continue on my way. 5 stars.

they came to help me at Kupferquelle and repaired the starter motor same day. also a small welding job. i recommend them!

We had a good experience here! Our waterpump broke and they were able to order it overnight from Windhoek and fit it the next morning. I do have to admit that they’re quite pricey but very professional!

Report Check-In

We came to this Workshop because we had a mechanical problem with our car but we also had a crack on our windscreen. They had the windscreen on site, so we thought, why not repair it. They replaced the windscreen for us. It cost us 4140 N$. As we drove down from Namibia to South Africa the windscreen got loose and as we arrived in Cape Town and it was raining, we recognised that the windscreen was also leaky. There was so much rain at the corners on the bottom of the windscreen coming in, that we had to change every hour the towels. So we wrote the manager of the garage, what is going on. That our windscreen is loose and leaky and we have to repair it, just after 1000km. But we didn’t get any answer. So we went to 3 different car glass workshops in Cape Town and they all said, you have to take the windscreen out and fit it in correctly. So we did. And as they took the windscreen out, we saw, that the glass was in several places on the edge already a little bit chipped. The professionals in the car glass workshop told us, that happened because the windscreen, was not right fitted before and got loose. So the workshop tried to put it back in but where the glass was chipped the most, the windscreen got a crack. So we had to get a new windscreen and replace it again. After I called several times at Executive Auto Repairs, I got the owner, Mr. Frank, on the phone and told him, what happened. He asked me, why I didn’t contact him before and I told him, I didn’t had his contact and I wrote a message to his manager. He told me, that it is normal, that a windscreen can get loose and leaky and it’s not the fault of his workshop. He said you can easily seal the windscreen up from the outside and that we wouldn’t had to take it out. I told him, that we went to 3 different professional car glass workshops and they all told us, that you have to take it out and put it back in properly. The windscreen was really lose and all the specialist said, that’s the only way. Than he accused me, why I didn’t sent him before a quote and I said to him I already contacted his manager but I didn’t get any answer and meanwhile there was a lot of rain coming into my car, so I wanted to get it down as soon as possible. At the end Mr. Frank was just willing to refund me the money for the fitment they made and not the price for the windscreen I bought at his place (the price of the windscreen is about 8 times the price of the fitting). So I told him, that I don’t accept this because it’s not my or the car glass workshops fault, that the windscreen got a crack as they tried to put it back in. It got the crack because the glass while it was loose already chipped on the edge. Then Mr. Frank claimed, the windscreen was not chipped because it was loose, he said it happened as they cut it out. It is one thing, that Mr. Frank didn’t want to refund us the whole amount or the money, we payed for the reparation in Cape Town, but it’s a shame that he takes all the blame off himself and his workshop. At no point did he apologize for the inconvenience caused to us by the poor work done in his workshop. But because of that, I don’t want his money at all and I write this. I want to warn everyone. Don’t go to Executive Auto Repairs. Mr. Frank is really unprofessional!

Report Check-In

Really unprofessional! We arrived at this workshop with a broken axle boot for our sprinter. They removed and replaced the axle boot. And the end of the day we did a test drive and after that we saw the axle boot had a small hole, where the grain was getting out. So they glud the axle boot and said it will work. We said perhaps it works for some meters, but we have to go thousands of kilometers more. We said, we have to come again and make it properly. They just said it will work and gave us the invoice. At the end of the day I came with a broken axle boot and I went with a broken axle boot. For that I paid more than 2000 N$. We drove 2 kilometers to the campground and saw that the glu didn’t help and the grain was coming out again. So we called them and said, we have to do it again properly. So we ourselves did a research for the right axle boot and gave them the number to order it. So after over a week and another 2000 N$ they fixed our broken axle boot. So in my opinion they are not just expensive but also unprofessional. Who gives an invoice for a reparation of a broken axle boot, when it’s at the end of the day still broken. I wouldn’t recommend this workshop at all!

Report Check-In

Very competent and professional, however, they surely charge a premium for that. We had a broken pipe for power steering fluid and they had a new one made and installed 1hr after we showed up. As they spend further 20 minutes repairing a lamp, they charged for two full hours (700 NAD + VAT) for removing and replacing the pipe which i did myself in 45min and 250 NAD 'additional' labour for making the pipe. On top comes consumables and small bits and pieces. It came out at 1328 for a small job.

However, Frank was apparently the only one in town with the skills for this job, so we are grateful.

If you don't need very technical repairs, I would go elsewhere for a lower price. If you need a serious mechanic, I believe this is the best mechanic in the wider area. Even the toyota shop sent us here as they couldn't fix our issue.

Report Check-In

We did our 20.000km service here for our 2020 Toyota Landcruiser GRJ78 after we’ve contacted Frank one day before on our way to Tsumeb.

Everything was well done we payed a bit more than 3000 NAD for the service incl. a Tyre Rotation for 6 wheels (we carry 2 spares) and some parts (some we had as spares with us like air & fuel filter).

Overall we can highly recommend Franks place. Contact via SMS was easy and Service was outstanding. We even got some tea by the reception ladies in the morning.

Ten years ago in the first edition of Overlanders Handbook I wrote that this was the garage to head for if you’ve just come down the west coast and your vehicle is battered and bruised. So great to visit again and see Frank is still full of knowledge, energy and good humour, further strengthened by his capable son Xander having now joined the existing experienced team.

Full workshop facilities and engineering know how to always ‘make a plan’, all vehicles worked on, the family love Landies, everything can be overnighted from Windhoek with minimum fuss, being a mining town it has a good range of other mechanical services that Frank can draw on.

Workshops for windscreen repair/replacements done, radiator recoring and repairs.

Etosha or wider area breakdown service, Frank will come and rescue you for a sensible price.

Labour is NAM $350 ph 4x4, $500 ph for trucks

After waiting for 45min our car was put on the lift and Frank, the owner inspected the car for 2min. A mechanic then changed three fuel lines (in total less than 400mm). This took him less than 10min. We then got charged N$523 for everything. We were able to talk him down to N$437 which is still way too much for what was done. So in our opinion the shop is too expensive.

Report Check-In

Prices: ND$300 per hour (labour) and then every invoice will also include: ND$90 for Consumables.

Make sure to check you invoice before paying because they tried to charge us too much. They wanted to charge for the type of work that was done rather than the original quote of 300 per hour labour.

They did everything we asked and overall we we were satisfied.

There is another mechanic behind the puma station. Drive as if you are going to the hospital and his workshop is on your left. He wasn’t willing to help us because he was too busy. So we have no review for him, but it’s worth knowing your options!

Report Check-In

Competent workshop, but totally overpriced! We paid 1200N$ just for an oil change!

Report Check-In

Unfriendly staff at the counter, that threw the invoice at us without a comment.... Could not give us a quote upfront. A bit overpriced! We paid 350 N$ for greasing the axles. Only positive aspect is that they did it immediately and it only took 20 min.

We came with some issues on our Defender and they provided a quick, friendly and professional service.

I came for an oil change and small service items on our Landrover. It seemed to be very reliable and well organized. I payed 1817 N$.
