MAAM - Museo Arqueológico Alta Montaña | Tourist Attraction

Prices are rising quickly and badly in Argentina these days. Entrance to this museum is 8,000 pesos for foreigners in March 2024. Why nobody updated this entry in seven months, while it is a super popular museum, is beyond me. Tons of overlanders visit Salta - including the MAAM - and use iOverlander daily. Leaving a comment is quick and easy! If I knew the price had quadrupled since August of last year, I wouldn't have gone through the effort, time, and expense to reach the plaza.

entrance is now 2000 peso’s per person for foreigners. impressive museum with quite a lot of english text and one of the children at display at a time. we saw the girl struck by lightning. fascinating to see how well preserved she is.

For anyone with an interest in Pre-Colombian history this is a must visit. Incredibly preserved mummies and artifacts. The textiles are exceptionally amazing as the vividness of their colors remains which is no small task for centuries old dyes.

200 pesos for foreigners. The best preserved mummies I have ever seen, pretty incredible! You'll see a lot of small artifacts and information throughout. It is not the largest collection but we felt the quality was really good on what they had. We really liked this museum. No pictures allowed.

There is not a lot to this display about the 3 Inca child mummies but what there is is superb and very moving. Unmissable and unique. 200 entry

Do not leave Salta without seeing this place. Amazing information (Spanish and English), insanely well-preserved mummies, great displays. Now $200pesos. Street parking right outside. Go!
