Free forest campground next to clear lake with great views. About 8 spots total, but 7 are walk-in, so if you're in a vehicle you have to hope that spot #1 is available. No overnighting in the parking lot, designated camp spaces only.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Only one spot is accessible to vehicle camping and it was taken when we got here. Forest service enforces the "no sleeping in vehicles or camping in the parking lot" rule, so we had to move along.
Report Check-InThe spot #1 is perfect if you come with a camper. Road noise is minimal and nature sounds very nice (lots of birds).
Report Check-InFree. Nobody. Table and firering. Better for tent. Access to Lake. Good view. Pit toilet.
Report Check-InThis place is legit! It’s quiet. It’s beautiful. People are chill. The lake is calm. The woods give good protection from the road. I’m a big fan!
Don’t bother with “The Spot” (12 miles south). I tried getting there and it sucked. The road was rough gravel and roads crossed each other so it became very confusing. I put my Blazer through a beating. Plus it was full when I arrived.
The place I’m at now...super legit!! I love it!
I’m road tripping from Chicago up to Alaska currently, so iOverlander has been incredible helpful. Thanks to everyone that participates.
Only campground we were able to find open along this stretch beginning of May. Drop toilet was also open. Track was extremely muddy with a fair amount of snow at the bottom. Our 2WD van struggled!
Report Check-InBe aware that you vehicle has to remain in the (ugly) parking areas. Tables and views of the lake are walk-ins only. Tents can be put in the forest. Not the best camping option if you sleep in a car.
Report Check-Inlike describe, very nice place !
