USER REPORTS:"I called visitors center today to ask about the permit. They said its closed until October 2018"
A nice place under the only tree in the surroundings. There is a track leading to this place from the highway. Easy for motorcycles, but may be a bit too rocky for a small car, though big cars should have no problems. Stunning view. No infrastructure. For us the night got a bit more windy than we expected, but there was a strong wind forecasted.

We stopped by to check out the canyon.. beautiful! We didn’t camp here because there was a sign at the entrance, “No Camping”. We continued west on the 64 to the next camp sites in the NF called Sunset Heaven. Very few people and a nice spot with views.
Report Check-InStopped here for lunch. Awesome spot right on the edge of a canyon! Trail out wasn’t bad, if you have a trailer don’t go all the way to the tree or you won’t be able to turn around. I get alright cell reception (Verizon) Snapchat and videos load slowly. Spot doesn’t look very level and is a bit rocky but the view definitely makes up for it.
Report Check-InThis is the most awesome coolest off grid camping I’ve stayed at. There is literally nothing here accept a sweet fire pit but it’s just amazing. The road in is not great but take your time it’s short
Report Check-InAmazing place, one of the most beautiful spots we’ve camped at. Be sure to get a backcountry permit to camp here. Info available in nearby town of Cameron. We got checked in the morning.
Report Check-InRough road but nice spot for overnight stay. Sky was amazing. Very quiet we were the only ones there. We made it with our skoolie.
Report Check-InGreat spot! Thanks guys. If you feel uncomfortable about the track to drive, walk it first. Only half a mile. I'm pretty sure, you will find it easier to drive than you thought. No fire wood here. Bring your own. Let the lonely tree live.
Report Check-InGorgeous site right on the cliff of a beautiful and deep canyon. Amazing!
We drove all the way till the tree with our class C RV 24 feet, wasn't easy but OK very slowly.
Beautiful place to stay the night. You can do some stargazing while listening to the howling of coyotes and wake up with the first light hitting the canyon. It was absolutly worth the bumpy ride up here.
Wide rigs (like ours) not really recommended though...
What an amazing campsite. zero light pollution under millions of stars. This place was pristine. If you visit please remove your trash. This is quite possibly the best campsite I've ever stayed at.
