Mexico
This parking lot is just next to the Best Western Hotel, it has plenty of space and you can easily find a place with shade, there is a lot of trees. Easy acces to Centro via minibus Roja #3, or taxi.
You don't feel like in the big city, there is the planetarium, theater, bibliotheca and more at walk distance.
Police patrolled all night so very safe.
We asked to park overnight and they say there was no problem but were happy that we informed them.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
in the heart of Morelia, i have used this spot several times over the years, no problem at all, some steps walking and you'll be at cathedral!
Report Check-Ingreat spot, car park located centrally in the park so it's very quiet for inner city location, easy to find a spot in the late afternoon but in the morning the car park got very busy, police came and spoke to me very soon after I arrived and were very friendly, no issues with me parking overnight, regularly patrolling so felt very safe, no electricity hook-up that I can find, but I did find free toilet and shower in the red building were the police often remain when they're not doing patrols, the toilet and shower are in the same room but not easy to find because they are not signed, but ask the police officer kindly they should tell you, it's old toilet/shower but I'm definitely not complaining for free shower
Report Check-InGreat location. (Amazing food, service and coffee at Cocol Bistro 100m away.) I parked my 22' RV directly in front of the bathroom/cafe structure. No clue where the electricity hookups are and the cops I asked also didn't know. I stayed 3 nights and didn't want to leave. Left the generator running all day for my dogs and no one cared.
On-site Cafe wifi: ApCafeteria, pw: amoelcafe
Report Check-Injust in case this helps anyone else, to get back here from the centre you want the combi that says "Roja 3" on it! 3B also worked. 10 pesos per person
great place to sleep overnight. the military convention was just packing up when we arrived, we only stayed one night but it was a great, quiet sleep. dog park for our dogs to play in, and lots of locals walking their pets around the area. very vibrant and well utilized park!
Report Check-Inwe Plan to stay here, but surprise, a huge Military Expo is here and all spaces are occupied, we Trier for pay a side at Best Western Hotel, but not posdible to stay overnight in the parking lot, but the police Office are all so nice, we could Park next to there cars with Best security, but we have to leave before 9am. nice town 10PpP with collectivo on Mainroad easy to centro or 50P with uber, 19.682845, -101.183693, very quite, but lots of lights, "granhotelmorelia" PW BW Plus
Report Check-InThis place is great! We’re 30’ class C and have plenty of space to park and even put out our slide. The local police are super friendly and accustomed/even recommended we park here (instead of camping elsewhere in the city) for safety.
Report Check-InThis was a great place to park our class C motorhome, very secure with a lot of space in front the plaza Morelos.
there is no other service but very close to the center of Morelia, just 15 minutes walking.
Report Check-InWow what a saving grace after three failed attempts at other locations, and it quickly approaching 10pm on a Friday night. Policia and Guardians everywhere. 50 the night we pulled up but that was for their Christmas party I think.. over the night - day we spent there they were always asking us if we needed help. There were 10-15 around. We unfortunately didn’t get guided to the electrical outlets and weren’t sure totally where to park. We felt safe the full time and the bano was nice, 5 pesos to use the one we used. We will be coming back for sure, can’t beat the price for security!
Report Check-InStill one of the best places in a big city.
No Zumba and no Rumba for three nights. very quiet.
Very good quiet place to park, but we have the impression that there is less police present then when we were there last year in October. Fred & Emmy
Report Check-InPerfect spot to explore Morelia from. 24/7 (friendly) security, free hook ups, near the city. 100% recommend! @plannedspontaneity
Report Check-InThis is one of the best free city parking spots in Mexico. The policia municipal were very friendly when we arrived and showed us where the spigot and electrical hook ups were.
They said they have at least two cops on duty in the park at all times and that if we need anything to not hesitate to ask.
The cops told us to go to the taco place with the orange sign across the street from the drive into the planetario, it was a great recommendation - al pastor tacos were delicious.
I wish every city had a lot like this for overlanders.
Report Check-InExcellent spot. Secure, shaded, and very quiet at night. Bathrooms nearby for 5 pesos as well as a strip of takeout restaurants and a bar plus a Bodega Aurrera and HSBC across the street (Aurrera and Bar La Margarita have public restrooms when open). Several other campers in the lot. Outdoor aerobics workout class starts at 8:00am daily and will wake you up!
Report Check-InWhat a find! Shady, beautiful park where we spent three nights. There are electric hookups for rigs that need them. Water is available from a spigot beside the police station (not potable, as with all water from the tap in Mexico). Speaking of police, they are very friendly and regularly patrol the area. Having said that, we felt extremely safe and welcomed. It was a peaceful spot where we met many curious locals. Playground nearby, as well as planetarium, orchid greenhouse, and even a skating rink this time of year. There’s even a cafe where you can grab a morning coffee and other things.
Report Check-InWe spent three nights on this free spot. The police took a picture of our vehicle and our passports when we arrived to monitor it during our stay. We were a 40 minute walk from the historic center. Quiet and continuously monitored. There are 5 peso toilets in the parking lot.

Report Check-InGreat place to boondock for a night. Very safe, free, close to town and policemen in charge are extremely friendly . When we arrived it looked full, but there was a closed area. Policeman opened the area for us and invited us to park and spend the night there. He registered our plates and names, and told us were to get a cab to go visit the town. Cathedral is 15 mins away on taxi, great place to leave your camper while visiting Morelia.
5 policemen are full time for security (this is the local convention center) and they are keen to promote tourism (policeman told us to spread the word about parking here)
Report Check-InVery good location, under the trees, completely free. No problem with our 24 ft. Police on foot patrol regularly. A library is located nearby, very good Wifi, closes at 20:00 on weekdays. To reach the city center a bus / van passes near the entrance, Red Line, number 3A, 9 pesos per person. Pass near the sanctuary of our Lady of Guadalupe and leave you near the Cathedral. Really quiet, we stayed there for two nights.

Report Check-InFree spot to camp in the city! Bathrooms close by. The security guards over here were the friendliest people and one of them even took a look at our car (wasn’t starting). He ended up working 2hours on it and then magic! everything was working again.

Report Check-InBack in Morelia we stayed here again for two nights without any issues. At daytime you can use the clean bathrooms of the CECONEXPO just a few steps away.
Report Check-InAs mentioned before please ask the security for their ok. They are really welcoming, but glad to be asked. Not far away from the circular road around the city but nearly no traffic noise!
It’s really safe and great to walk with the dog.
This is the place to stay when in Morelia! The policemen patrolling this place are very welcoming and even encouraged us to stay a second night. Just in front of the place you can flag down a colectivo which takes you to the city center within 15 minutes and costs 8 pesos per person. A taxi back is 45 pesos at night. Parking is free around the clock but please ask the security guards at the entrance before checking in.
