Latest Check-Ins

We checked it out to find a place to shower, sleep and eat well. It’s a good place but not cheap. Only shower costs 15bol per person. There are other hostels which just take 10.
A night in the own car in their garden costs 40bol per person and 25bol for the car. So it’s 105bol for 2. For 125 you can book a room. Our plan was to stay here at night and then next day go to the islands, so we asked if it’s possible to let the car there. It is possible, but cost 15bol more... when you don’t like to pay, you have to leave at 10 a.m.
For us it is too expensive, so we searched for another point to stay, but maybe we will try the food later.

A bit overpriced. Space for one van, though the had to take down low hanging wires for us to get in. Spot was level, bathrooms are clean enough. Nice hangout/dining area. WiFi didn’t really work for us. Breakfast is coffee or tea, pita with peanut butter or jam and a fruit salad. Close to downtown but no views of the lake.

Nice hostel with lovely garden and chill-out area. Parking for Overlanders is in the garden and hence provides not much privacy. Hot showers and good breakfast which is included in the price. Good for 1 or 2 nights.

A lovely, family-run place. We ended up staying a few days as we got ill, but almost certainly from a place in town or Isla del sol - they wash all their fresh food with clean water here and it was delicious.

We camped for a couple of nights for 30 BOL pp and stayed in a dorm when we were ill - 80 BOL pp is the cheapest room, with two bunk beds and a single.

WiFi was good when not being used by lots of people. It took a little time, but we could download some films from Netflix and update our blog fairly easily.

Gorgeous views of the lake. Good bathrooms - showers were nice and hot, even if the pressure was a little weak. We are cyclists and there was a large room to store our bikes.

Recomendado! Agua caliente, baños, lavanderia (15bs x kilo), wifi, todo perfecto. Saludos viajeros

Hi all! Very good hostel! Perfect for vegans like us :) We arrived in a mahindra truck with a trolley (our little house), they charged us 40bs per person (camping price) for staying in the car. Includes very rich and nutritious breakfast! In the restaurant ask for the falafel dish! Recommended! Hot water, bathrooms, laundry (15bs x kilo), wifi, everything perfect. Greetings travelers

Avoid this camping!!! We stayed here several days, but not voluntary....we got terribly ill here with diarrhea and vomiting, as some other people too, who stayed in the hostel.

Very nice camping, but only place for 2 overlanders. 40 bob pP plus 25 for the car. Clean bathrooms and showers. very good vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Owner speaks also english and german. Secure parking, if you want to visit the islands.
Only some steps to visit the village. There are 3 ATMs in the village.

Great place to stay after bordercrossing from Peru.
Wifi was working well in the camping zone, electrical hot water shower, lovely breakfast (fresh fruit salad, bread and jam/p-butter)
Had some discusions about the price with Carlos the owner. He wanted 40Bob pp plus 35Bob for the car. At the end we payed 95Bob total incl. Breakfast. But he ask me to put the new prices here, they are valid from now on. Kids pay from 7 years old he says, and he kindly provided breakfast for our small kids aswell, without paying for them.
Our friends stayed in the cute hut/cabin in the middle of the garden for 130Bob for 2 incl. breakfast.

In the meantime, Carlos charges 40Bs/pp and 30Bs for the vehicle per night. Credit cards +12.5%.

This place is reopened and overlander friendly. We had no problems parking our Dodge Ram 3500. Carlos, the owner, was very accommodating.

30BOB per person to sleep in vehicle, 25BOB to park the vehicle itself. Dorms and privates also available. Space for camping in own tent.

Wifi in and out (it was snowing at the time), warm showers, close to the center, both normal and eco dry toilets.

No kitchen for guests but can ask for hot water.

Our favorites from the cozy cafe were the coconut and sesame vegan milks, the FALFEL DISH, and the breakfast (included with the stay) homemade peanut butter!

Yep, indeed closed. The signs in town are still up, but the gates were closed and there was a woman cleaning saying it will not open again.

Report Check-In

Place is closed :-( don't know for how long..

Report Check-In

Access to camping very bad, difficult to maneuver. The owner's wife was very sick and the camping was not working, I had to go back, very difficult!

Cheapest camping option in town we paid 50 bol (20 car + 15 per person). Decent spot 5mins walk into the main part of town. Eco toilets (sawdust not water) that work fine and hot electric showers. Laundry available for 7 bol per kilo. Elsewhere in town will cost you 10-15 per kilo so the price is good here.

Some rules you should know about (that we weren't aware of when checking in). No alcohol allowed on site at all, we love our booze so this isn't ideal! Also they don't allow meat products so you can't cook your tasty bacon for breakfast...boo :( and there are bee hives on site, and the bees get angry sometimes.. we got stung so if you are allergic be careful. Also water is very scarce here so make sure you bring your own, they aren't happy with you filling up any container or doing any washing.

Report Check-In

Camped here for 15b per person + 20b per car. No alcohol or meat on the premises. They are very conservative about water usage.

Report Check-In

Nice, classic backpackers hostel with friendly owner. There is some space for camping in a tent or vehicle, but it would be a bit of a squeeze to fit 4 vehicles. 2 maybe 3 would fit fine. They have a vegan/vegetarian restaurant on site. The place is very eco-minded with garden, food compost and composting toilets. They are working on a hydroponics system in the greenhouse. Wifi was good when there is not a ton of people around. The site is no drinking or smoking, and they don't want you cooking meat in their kitchen. We asked about in our camper and they said that would be fine.
The access to the hostel is tricky, not a good option for big rigs.
We paid $15pp plus $20 for the vehicle.

Nice and friendly place and owner, high quality food, nice place to camp, quiet and close to town. We recommend!

Report Check-In

Hostel with space for about 4-5 vehicles. Very friendly owner & staff. Electric-head showers, clean bathrooms, WiFi, kitchen, fire pit and vegan restaurant - reasonable prices (breakfast, pizza, hummus, veggie burgers, etc). Wifi is good but intermittent. Flush & compost toilets. 5 min walk to Centro. Recommended.

50 Bol for 2 people + car. Driving Note - Easier to approach hostel from side or lower road near lake. Big rigs possible but some tight turns.

My wife and I are on our motorbike and camped for 3 nights at Hostel Joshua......what a great little place. The area has room for camping ( one or two tents) and has Hostel accommodation as the main accommodation and is based on an Eco friendly model which includes "drop toilets" (no issue at all) recycling, composting and soon hydroponics for their vegetables. it is positioned about a 2 minute walk from town and if driving or biking access is from the water ( our GPS took us on the same road but from the top of town but the road is blocked in the middle. The staff are great and the whole area has a family feel to it. To us as meat eaters the Vegan restaurant was absolutely wonderful. .... from the breakfasts through to the wraps and drinks provided for our day visiting the island and finally the dinners. WiFi is good and showers were hot. We believe it's an ongoing project and we were happy to assist by staying. if you want a place close to town that isn't your normal concrete hostel that is safe and with great food then we would suggest staying. We have included a few photos of the area
