Georgia
perfect road all the way to the top.
and a great hike up on a nice trail
. We saw some hikers pitching their tents so figured it'd be okay if we'd stay on this plateau too. It's quite touristic by day, so you'll have to find your way through the torrent of 4x4 vans going up and down the dirt track. After the church closes, you'll have to place pretty much to yourselves. We stayed here to cross the border into Russia the next day, even though getting down again will take some time. There are toilets and a water fountain near the church.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Probably one of the most beautiful places. Very quiet, very nice people, breathtaking view.
Report Check-InCan be a busy spot. A group of soldiers camped here during our stay. But great views and lots of space so we liked it too! Nice morning view to Kazbeg.
Report Check-InPerfect place to stay over night or start a hike. We met at the place some other Overlanders. Quite at night, except the horse.
Report Check-InHuge place to camp, the road to the church is finished so you don’t need 4x4 to get here, although the field can be muddy after rain.
Report Check-InWhen We came up here the weather was very bad and it was already dark. You could not see the mountains or down to Stepantsminda. We stayed at the parking area of Gergeti Trinity for one night. There were a lot of other people coming and ging the whole night. Very loud.
Report Check-InNice grassy area with great views. plenty of space. Can get windy.
the road is now good and any car can get up to the Monastery.
Just such a great view and so much nicer in the evening without all the people! Loved it there!
Report Check-InBeautiful and quiet spot with stunning views! Currently a 4x4 is needed to reach the spot but the road is being constructed.
Report Check-InYou'd definitely need a 4x4 or an allroad motorcycle to reach the top, but if you do you'll find awesome camp spots here.
