There's a new paved road from Santiago de Atitlan to Chicacao, in our OSM it stops here, so don't worry, now it's finished and provides a good connection to the CA-02 - and nice views!

Very good road surface, obviously new. On a dry day it'll be an easy drive, but not recommended when it is raining as there are a lot of land slide sites along the road.
