We drove to this place but did not stayed here because of the incredible amount of mosquitoes AND the fact that you DO NEED a pass to enter this area. Check the website for more information, I think you can buy the pass online: https://cpw.state.co.us/swa/Mountain%20Home%20Reservoir%20SWA

Beautiful spot, many spots aren’t level but there’s a few nicer level ones. A few miles of well groomed dirt road to get here. Suitable for most rigs, larger sized will have a little trouble. No real washouts though, nice road. No Verizon cell service :( @explore_RLT

Beautiful place. Stayed 2 nights and no one came to check for Colorado fishing license. a little noisy with ATVs and trucks.

Report Check-In

A little lake with a boat ramp, pit toilet (on the south side, idk about the north side), and lots of scattered fire rings. Technically, you're supposed to have a Colorado hunting or fishing license to camp here, but we were here on a Wednesday, and no authority showed up to run us off. Quite a bit of trash about, but we found a relatively clean, level spot on the south side. Great views of snow-covered peaks to north and east. Very, very quiet. There's two other campers, one an enormous rig with slide outs and the other a van. No water, electricity, or trash service. The road to it is recently grated dirt, so any vehicle should be able to navigate it fine. We talked to a local who was fishing and he says the reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout, wall-eye, and pike. In a meadow east of the reservoir, we saw about a half dozen elk at sunset.

Quiet spot, lots of people on the weekends. I was the only one here all of Monday. Pit toilets are gross. South side is very windy, many bugs.

Here for the night on March 22. Beautiful spot and no one else here

Report Check-In

Stayed here for two days, its absolutely awesome!! Beautiful views, lake is frozen enough to walk around on. We drove our 5 window Skoolie down the snowy dirt road with no problem and came in on the South road like people suggested. Lots of ice fishers out this time of year and plenty of flat places to park with fire rings.

Great place with stunning views. . .

Report Check-In

Beautiful views, very windy, lots of people here camping out. South side is honestly better but the road to get there is washboarded. 2WD low clearance vehicles can make it

Report Check-In

Phenomenal views in every direction! We camped right on the water on the south side off County Lane 6. Spread out sites but not much privacy. The long drive down the bumpy dirt roads knocked just about everything around in our camper, but it’s easily accessible with our 2wd and lightweight vintage trailer.

Go to South side (off County Rd. B), not Icehouse Rd. Lots of spots, some fire rings, beautiful view of Mt. Bianca. No wind protection. Great location!

Report Check-In

Close to the highway, road in was a little washboarded but very usable. Lake area is fairly flat with drivable sand. Deer were playing in the water at sunset.

Report Check-In

Easily accessible lake with camping available. The sand is hard enough to drive on and there is space for camping right on the lake.

Report Check-In

Great spot, very quiet. A local recommended the opposite site of the lake, because it is less windy. We were already parked so we did not move, but might be good to know on a windy day.

Report Check-In

Accessible with low clearance 2WD. VERY WINDY. Our tent ripped from the wind. The sand was firm enough to drive on. A few different spots to pull in. Ground isn’t very flat for tent camping. Rock fire pits and pit toilets. Great views!

Report Check-In

Camping right on the sands of the reservoir with fishing opportunities, pit toilets, and some makeshift fire rings. It got a bit windy but the stars are stunning here and had a nice quiet night!
Sand is packed well enough for 2WD van to camp right on the water

Report Check-In

Good place for a night. Almost nobody there. I wouldn't say the terrain is perfect for tents, but no problem for vehicles, wharever the size.

Report Check-In

Great spot to spend some time. beautiful sunsets

Report Check-In

plenty of space. large Rigs can fit near the entrance where the two pit toilets are and there is places for 50+ tents around the reservoir. everyone waved and was friendly enough but we were not disturbed in the night.

Report Check-In

Definitely only a couple flat spots, but a nice and very quiet place. No Verizon coverage. Lake/reservoir seems to have dried up.
