A lovely camping spot! Beautiful scenery. Right on the lake. Trails for hiking and biking. Lots of spots to park. Picnic tables, bbqs and fire pits. Tent camping and car camping is allowed here. Bathrooms are clean and stocked. Very quiet and peaceful. Very few people are here currently. There is a boat launch/marina so there will be people using that to launch boats. Truck noise from that is all I heard other than birds. Fishing and water sports allowed on the lake. Quite a few bugs at night, but to be expected in Texas around the water. Saw a huge pack of deer, probably the most I’ve seen together at one time. I parked next to the trailhead which is the flat ground, but parking is allowed everywhere not marked as “no parking.” Google maps might take you through a neighborhood, but if it does, exit and make the next left. You should see a sign marked “Area 5” or something of the like. Can’t remember exactly.

Best part, it’s free!

Plenty of room to camp, but basically parking on a parking lot. Sandy lake access. Garbage and bathrooms. Lots of burrs in the grass however so not great for dogs.

Quiet spot, nice sounds of the water at night. Trucks parked by boat dock, but looks like we were the only ones camping (RTT). Map first bright us to Possum Kingdom which looked like a neighborhood, and had no access to this site. Had to go back around, the left turn, right turn, and straight ahead road on Google maps we're non-existent. Ladies bathroom way dirty, not sure about the men's. Nice place to workout in the morning, plenty of rocks, trees, and what not to use. #OriginalHumanMovement

Great place to camp. Free. Wide open grassfield. It's the public use area 5. Easy access for all rigs. As the number 5 indicates, there are more public areas along the road, we did see the signs, but didn't check them out, except the D&D spots. Local radiostation on 90.50 FM transmitting also National Public Radio (NPR news from Washington) has a good reception here. The Rangers John and David made us feel very welcome. In summer it can be hot and crowded.
