Definitely worth!!! It was a very nice experience even though we usually don't like tours like this but it was not touristic in any way. We felt very welcomed and Wilson had perfect English, showed us around and translated for us. The women and the kids were super nice and it was a pleasure to meet them all!!! If you want to see Himba, definitely go there!!!

We had a great guide explaining everything about his village in perfect English. He translated for us, so we could ask questions and answer them their questions. They were all very nice and we had a great time. As we are staying at the campsite, they all walked with us to the cave there and showed us some singing and dancing. The campsite is very nice too.

Apparently things have changed drastically. In this village no one speaks any English, so the campsite warden does all the explaining and translating. He explains about the basic build up of a Himba village, then you enter and see a man and woman with their son sitting around and you can ask questions about their clothing and appearance. The boy was lacking his four front teeth as this is Himba tradition (still!). The man was said to be a blacksmith but his tools and fire pit etc couldn't be seen. Then we continued to a couple sitting around and four women with their small children in the shade. In the chief's hut an older woman showed us how they apply the red colour and how they 'clean' themselves. In the end the women gathered and shouted and jumped a little uninspiredly. This was probably supposed to be the dance, but it stopped every 20 seconds apparently for lack of a plan...
We were also shocked that not all their children are sent to the nearby school but some have to herd the goats instead.
We cannot recommend going and hope very much that the German foundation which helped set it up returns for supporting it, as it does not seem to work well.

We paid 280 pp for the village tour. They say that fee will be used for education of the children. So that is really good. Normally we don’t like this kind of visits and this one was no exception. But probably when you do like such visits, this one is really worth it.

Absolutely impressive visit of the village that exists since many years and became living museum in 2016, supported by www.lcfn.info. We took the 5 hours program that lasted only 4 hours, but nevertheless worth 500 NAD pp.

Just stopping to have a look and a few minutes chat was worth it! If someone wants to do a tour I am quite sure it will be a lasting experience. From listening to the founder I got the idea that this is a well conceived project which is not only about making profit with tourism. They use the income for education, development and also to preserve these rare traditional lifestyle.
I did not do a tour, but as mentioned I am sure it will be a great experience!

We have to agree. Absolutley worth to visit. It was strange to me, seeing these professional signs, but still keeping their culture.

Amazing place to learn about the himba. Not too touristic, friendly guides and definitely worth the money. We brought a polaroid camera and had a lot of fun taking pictures with the inhabitants of the village after the tour. Prices still as stated below.
