Description

- free camping behind the hotel (dead end street)
-access via road in front of hotel, not via the TGI Friday’s corner (this is a dead end before getting to the road you camp on)
- pretty fast wifi if you find the right place
- police came and said it was OK (we were two cars there)
- you are going to disappoint a couple of people that drive here to have sex in their car (but I am sure they will find another place)

unfortunately there is a guy at the corner living in a small container who calls himself a policeman. he wants to charge 5$ per night. he seems to be kind of half official, but definitely not his fee. went to the parking place next to the hotel.

el lugar está bien.
tranquilo y seguro.

Stayed for a whole week and enjoyed it a lot. Better than staying at Overland Embassy (nice view at canal, green, a lot of birds, shade, quiet).

It is really safe and quiet, there are no locals around - seems like its not allowed for „not tourists“ to stay there. Police checks every now and then, very friendly.
You can use the Pool from Radisson when you drink a coffee. Free shower and toilet 2min walking to the pier.

Uber to Multiplaza Mall 6$.

Report Check-In

Safe spot to sleep, quiet and wifi but you need to stay on the road close to the hostel.

Quiet place to stay before shipping the van. Free Wifi from the radisson. There is a tap water on the wall in the garden you can access if the fence is open.
You can see from here the ships going to the canal

Stayed here for two nights at the end of our trip. Quite and safe. Wifi of the hotel reaches some spots on the street. Other travelers around.

We stayed for three nights and felt very safe. There were other overlanders during our stay. It's the best place in Panama City. There is a clean bathroom (toilet/shower), sink and laundery room few minutes away. You find a point on iOverlander (Puerto Panama City Balboa).

Spent one night, nice and quiet, feels very safe. Cops rolled by at about 10pm but didn't bother us. An RV joined us at around 11pm and settled in as well.

Closed road behind Radison Hotel next to the water. Wonderful breeze as well as shaded areas. Was easy to pull in our truck and travel trailer, turn around and position it whichever way we wished. Sunday afternoon local walkers with their families and some even pick-nicking. Not at all noisy or crowded and very safe. Police come to check and see if you are safe.

Report Check-In

Excellent location for overnight camp before DIJ inspection before shipping. Nice breeze, quiet and safe, police even check to see if you are safe. Shaded areas and big enough for our truck and travel trailer to turn around and park (approximately 42 feet in total length of truck and trailer combined.

Nice quiet place. Some shade spots, no size restriction. Lots of Overlanders waiting to ship. I parked here for three weeks being a tourist and waiting for an Amazon shipment of parts. Uber is now 3 to 3.50 to old town. Some garbage left by other Overlanders and local fishermen. Clean up after yourselves!! The garbage can isn't that far. Cops did stop by and advise me NOT to parade around in my underwear which I would never do. Even though it's hot keep some clothing on. I guess this has been a problem? I would stay here again.

You can camp down the whole road behind the hotel, we camped right next to it as it seemed cleaner. Trash cart came at 4:30am but other than that a quiet night and felt nice and safe.
Claro - 26mb download / 19mb upload
Movistar - 12 download / 12 upload
Hotel Wifi - up and down but overall ‘stupid fast’.
Toilets in hotel along with. TGI Friday’s and a nice looking cafe.
Uber’s into old town are under $3 currently.

In our opinion, this is the best spot to stay while in Panama City. Spent one week here. Seems very safe overnight. We would spend the night here but park the van closer to the Balboa Yatch club in view of the hotel security guard during the day and Uber into the city. And yes, open wifi still works!

Report Check-In

A blocked off concrete road that runs parallel to the canal. Quiet at night. Bar/restaurant just down the road. Some breeze to keep you comfortable but that might be seasonal. Spent several nights here after shipping our truck from Colombia and then organising long term storage at Transbal.

Pretty decent spot. Quiet on a Thursday night. Free wifi a nice touch, and u can get a coffee ($2) if you want to use their toilet in the morning.

Only downside was it was a little smelly. Not sure if it's the bins or canal, so maybe park under the tree rather than right at the end of the road.

Report Check-In

Quit place to camp, clean and prepare your car for shipping. However, I would not spend the night there alone, but's a personal feeling (street is desolate). When we were there, there were other overlanders.

We asked the security guard at country inn if we could park behind the building. He was very friendly and said it was safe. Pretty quiet for a city spot and safe. Be careful of the mosquitos during the witching hour (6pm). We were also able to access some wifi from this spot which was very helpful.

Report Check-In

Quiet and free roadside parking in dead end street behind CountryInn hotel. OK with police. Very few locals, some litter, wifi, far from downtown and/or sights. No reasonably priced food around. Free.
If you park in view of the hotel windows, you'll be in plain sight from the breakfast buffet. So maybe don't urinate in public. Hot, mosquitoes.
Customs came by to check my papers once.

Report Check-In

Nice spot for organizing everything before going to Columbia. Cross point for overlanders traveling north and south. Felt really save.

Report Check-In

At this time, most of the overlanders stay in front of the entrance or everywhere around. Very good place to meet other overlanders from / to Colombia. We finally take some nigths in the hotel, when our rv was shipping. Not good : Restaurant maybe good but very expensive. Far to city center and airport...

Report Check-In

We parked around the front, on the street next to the hotel security. A really quiet night, and patchy internet reception.

Report Check-In

Bags of trash. It is a party spot and if you don't mind hip hop music and people that sing along while you are trying to sleep then you will be ok.

Report Check-In

We found electricity on a lampost and you can get water asking for it on the Country Inn hotel.
Police officers sayd it was ok for us to stay there.

Report Check-In

Safe, quiet and a bit windy place. The police comes round and has a look. Locals are sent away, overlander are just asked where they are from and are allowed to stay. We stayed two nights, the second one with five more campers :-)!
