Tajikistan
All motorcyclists at the Green House Hostel keep sending each other to Anton, so it's about time he's added here. He speaks English and seems to know what he's doing. Dima is the one who actually cleaned my carburetor for me, but Anton seemed more knowledgeable.
Edit: The carburetor still wasn't doing its job correctly, so I opened it myself. A rubber was broken and a spring missing. Both were either caused by Dima or in the very least not corrected by him. Probably better to make sure Anton works on your bike or do it yourself in their workshop.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Really great spot if you need help in Tajikistan. Aziz seems like a really competent mechanic. Although I worked on my own motorcycle, he helped with reconditioning my cylinder head. Also helped with getting parts shipped to Tajikistan. He has a contact in the US where I had a parts order sent, then from there to Dushanbe was two day shipping.
Report Check-InDefinitely not a recommendation! My steering head bearing was broken. I was supposed to get new bearings at the bazaar and then come to him the next day. After four hours I was able to pick up the motorcycle. He told me the old bearings were fine so didn't changed them. So I paid 400 somoni to loosen the bearings... Now I'm on the Pamir Highway and of course the bearing is broken. Thanks for nothing!
Report Check-InCan recommend Aziz and Bike House. He cleaned our carb, changed tyres and oil and cleaned chain to a high standard and at a very reasonable price. He helpfully shared information on the Pamir and was super friendly. Just be warned, he is busy with overlanders so you may have to wait.
Report Check-InWe got a tyre fitted and an oil change here. They have Liqi Moly oil. There is also a collection of 2nd hand tyres if you need something urgently. Rates were very reasonable and came with some good information on the Pamir Highway. Recommend.
Report Check-InBike shop down a little side street in Dushanbe. We stopped by on a Saturday, and they seemed closed, but we called the number on the door and the owner arrived in 15 minutes to open shop. He then quickly replaced one of our broken mirrors, and refused money for it. Great guy!
Report Check-InAziz, the mechanic, great guy and he knows what he is doing. Take his number if you head to the Pamirs - he will help you out. I stranded in a small village in the Pamirs with a destroyed bearing and he went out of his way to send it to me all the way from Dushanbe.
Report Check-InGreat mechanic, speaks some English which is enough to get by. Replaced our tyres for us, we brought our own from Europe however he does stock some old and new ones from shinko.
