This is just a perfect place to relax and wind down. Amazing view across the valley. We stayed for 4 nights, stocked up in Mbeya, walked from Utengule to Lunji Coffee farm and back, and enjoyed the pool, tennis court, pool table, and the many cool wooden games that they have. Kids loved it here! Furthermore, good value for money in the restaurant: Good food, and good portions. And very fast WIFI, we were able to back up all pics and videos from the past weeks. Oh, and we asked if they could do our (huge bag of) laundry, and they did that for a very reasonable price, with a significant discount compared to normal per item prices. Superb stay!

Report Check-In

Last here 10 years ago and it hasn't changed. The camp ground is nice, with beautiful views, and the bar / restaurant is excellent. The toilet and showers are pretty rubbish though and need a refresh, especially for what is charged

More photos on our IG @thelandymission, feel free to message us for more info.

The views from this place are stunning and the breakfast was amazing. Camping is basic next to the tennis courts and the rooms are a little expensive but we would still recommend. The border took so long we basically collapsed when we got here from exhaustion but the scenery, the pool, the lovely staff, the smell of coffee everywhere… revived us. There are guided walks through the plantation but we were a bit short on time. We would highly recommend going to Lake Ngosi from here if you’re headed north! An amazing walk through the rainforest brings you to stunning views of the Lake.

Report Check-In

13pppn. Kids charged 50% from age 4-? Food was good. You can buy loaf of bread or burger buns on order. Boiler for showers is small in size, so if there are a few people you end up with cold water.

Report Check-In

Camping on a field. No shade but flat so great for RTT. No electricity, hot showers and free WiFi. $13pp pn. Great coffee!

Report Check-In

A pleasant country style hotel with lawn, shade trees & pool. You can ca.p on the field out the front. No shade, but the garden offers shade.

Report Check-In

Lovely camping here. No electricity. Olde world colonial feel about the place. Good sunsets over the valley. Nice easy walk. Good restaurant and excellent coffee. The dirt road to the farm off the main tar round is slow but picturesque.

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet place with great views over the valley. There is a pool and free WiFi. Delicious coffee and restaurant offers decent food for good value for money (proper portions). A good place to relax and regain some energy. Ablutions were clean, did not have hot showers.

All in all a great place but $13 a person is too expensive in our opinion. Nevertheless still a great spot for at least one night.

Report Check-In

What a beautiful place! Incredible views over the Rift Valley, warm and personable staff. Debbie the manager would so kind and helpful, the team even baked a birthday cake and sang for my partner! Food is delicious as is the coffee. A peaceful place to spend a few days recharging and exploring the nature of the surrounding area.

Report Check-In

Fabulous place, beautiful views, large grassy field to camp on, very good showers and toilets with hot water. Lovely restaurant and bar, free WiFi at camp site, really, really helpful and friendly team and of course you can buy delicious coffee. 13 USD pppn for camping

Report Check-In

Wonderful place! They have a beautiful garden and a very nice swimmingpool. The food in the restaurant is delicious and they serve nice coffee. In the shop you can buy their own coffee (beans or ground). Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The manager Debbie is a great host. We loved it a lot.

Report Check-In

Great place! You can camp on a grassy helipad next to the tennis court for $13pp/night or at bungalows for $17pp/night (extra for bedding but we used our own). We thought the bungalows were well worth it! They are very spacious with a kitchen, comfortable bed, mosquito nets, electricity and running water. There is Wi-Fi at the restaurant and good Vodacom signal at the bungalows. Very nice restaurant, large pristine pool, lovely lounge area with a beautiful view. They had lots of guided day trips on offer to local waterfalls and hikes but all had longish drives and the weather looked like rain so we didn’t go. Resident dogs were a bonus!

Report Check-In

A beautiful place to relax in a quiet campsite with a beautiful garden with an amazing swimmingpool under the mountains. Debbie, the owner was very helpful and indicates us a good garage for polé-polé. That's chuo cha ufundi mbalizi phone number : 0762310496
Thanks to all the staff very smiling and careful.

Report Check-In

A great place to stay. We stayed here for three nights, played tennis, hiked Mbeya Peak with Sadick and relaxed by the pool. Debbie who is the manager is really friendly. We loved our stay here. They have vegeterian options for food which was ok.

Report Check-In

My third visit, so it must be OK!! You camp on the helipad, not been blown away yet or asked to move to make way for some Overlander in a chopper. Clean ablutions, tennis and squash court + swimming pool available. Great restaurant and lovely staff. $13 per person per night, so it's not cheap for what you get, no water or electric hook up.

Report Check-In

Vefy nice place with great views. We camped on tje helipad next to volleyball pitch and close to the restaurant as bungalow camping although a great idea for either large groups or when raining seemed a bit of a walk and did not provide the same views. $13pppn for camping a bit too expensive $17if doung the bungalow camping. Good shower and toilet. Nice staff. Great coffee tour and lots to do around within 100km

Report Check-In

Nice green place with many facilities like a pool and restaurant. The place is surrounded by the coffee plantage but the gardens are also very beautiful.

They have two camping lodges available. Nice lodges with hot showers, kitchen, stove and electricity. These lodges don't have things like bedding and kitchen ware. You can sleep in the beds (with horrible mattresses) or use your own car/tents.
USD17 pppn

You can also use opt for an fully equipped lodges or camping only.

Report Check-In

Nicely located about 20km west of Mbeya. The campsite is a large field (for the helipad), but there is electricity and hot showers and flushing toilets. Restaurant is good, albeit a bit pricey. Can also recommend the coffee tour on the farm (10usd p.p) which takes about 2 hours including the walk there. Staff is very friendly and speak English well. Wifi was relatively fast when we were there. Not the most beautiful campsite, but very quiet at night and a very tranquil setting.

Report Check-In

The campsite is not really a campsite. You can camp on the heli pad and use all the amenities like pool, squash...Camping is now 13US$ pppn. For only 17 US $ pppn we took a camping bungalow and had a whole bungalow for ourselves. Fantastic! Instead of 2 nights we stayed 6 nights. Super friendly staff and manager. Good restaurant and the cleanest pool we haver ever come across.

Report Check-In

We cannot recommend this place to camp for overlanders.
You camp on their helipad which is basically a field with no shade, power or water.
Toilettes and dishwashing facilities are old and in dire need of maintenance. They offer guided trips to hike mbeya peak but charge 50$ per person. Price for camping is 13$ per person and no it does not come with Vaseline.
We drove to Lunji Coffee Plantation, run by friendly Germans, that let us camp in their truly beautiful garden with private Toilettes and hot Shower for 10$ per person. Also they arranged a guide and we hiked the mountain for 30,000 shilling for the both of us.

Report Check-In

Open again, expensive but delicious food
really nice place after the boardercrossing from sambia

Report Check-In

we opted to camp on the helipad which had electricity nearby as we were quite comfortable sleeping in our van. but I must say I had a look at the bungalows and they were really nice and I almost changed my mind. Debbie the manager and all the staff were very attentive and extremely nice. we stayed four nights and I regret not having enough time to stay longer. The food that was served was excellent and it was probably the best food we had so far in our entire trip. The facilities were good the pool was excellent and I highly recommend the coffee plantation tour that was $10 PP overall I felt that I got great value for my dollar at this campsite.

Report Check-In

Very friendly staff. Lovely spot on the grass, with many birds. The lodge itself was closed due to covid, but they improvised a restaurant in one of the bungalows and you are welcome to use the pool. 12 USD pppn

Report Check-In

We stayed in one of the camping bungalows, it is very clean and nice to have a whole house for yourself! The hot shower is very good! They even come to clean the house every other day.
Debbie the manager invited us for sundowners at the hotel area(the hotel is closed because of Covid-19.) Good place to watch the sunset! They organise meals in one of the bungalow's now and we enjoyed our dinner, we had a good burger and also fillet with grilled veggies.

The coffee tour is interesting and and you can also walk up the hill behind the hotel for a good view. We also played squash, no extra costs.
We used Utengule as a homebase and drove up to lake Ngosi and god's Bridge as a day trip. They have a map with lots of nice things to do in the area and Abdul can give you all the information you need.

We can recommend this place!

Report Check-In

Warmest welcome ever! It was raining and they rushed to our car with umbrellas, inside we were given a hot towel to dry off and got a welcome drink.

We stayed in campers bungalow 3 for $15 pppn. The bungalow is huge, although the bed in the master is not great. Scenery stunning, nice pool, squash+tennis court. For us the best place after crossing from Malawi to catch your breath.

Report Check-In

Really Really liked this place. The cottage camping option after 10 days on donkey boilers for hot water was a delight. At $15 USD Per person per night it is a absolute steal. Manager and staff are amazing. Great restaurant and lots of day excursions. I could easily spend a week here relaxing.

Report Check-In

We stayed in the campers bungalow for USD15pppn. With full access of all lodge facilities, this was a great deal, especially as we had all cutlery, crockery and bedding with us. Simply no better option than to stay here, enjoy service with heart, fantastic coffee, incredible views, informative tours and nature at its best. Restaurant food is of high quality and as a treat as we catered for ourselves for all meals. Book to avoid dissapointment at [email protected]

Report Check-In

Good place with hot showers. We booked an interesting tour through the coffee plantation with a lot of information about growing and processing of coffee for 10 US-DOLLARS per person.

Report Check-In

11.5 Usd pppn for camping on the helipad. Power point by big tree on helipad area, other side from where the steps are. Remember to check if water heater is on by ablutions.

Report Check-In

The lodge itself is lovely, and we could use the tennis and squash courts as well as the swimming pool.
Instead of camping they offer bungalows for an extra $5 each. We stayed in our camping car tho to save money and it is $11 pppn. The campsite is pretty basic, on a grassy heli pad, no power and the toilet blocks were pretty far from where we park.
But overall quite nice.

Report Check-In

Beautiful and friendly place to relax have a nice meal, fast internet before getting on the road again. Different accommodation available from room to family bungalow and campsite. Coffee testing is free 😉

Report Check-In

Agree with all below. For 15$ pppn I got a bungalow. Bit off the compound & you‘ll need you own gear (sleeping bag & towel), but spacious little house (3 beds / 2 showers), hot water & kitchen. No WiFi reception. Great value for money; enjoyed my stay!

Report Check-In

The campsite itself is not nice. Just an open dry place next to the tennis court. 11500pp. If you opt for the house, it is really worth 15pp. A big house with stove, chairs, tables, couch, shower & bath, comfy beds, mosquito nets, big outside area, even a washing line. But it is not camping... We were not satisfied with the food. Greasy pizza which was pretty small for 10usd and not a big plate of chips for 5usd. Nice swimming pool, but you need to have drinks from the bar, which are rather expensive.

Report Check-In

All as stated before. Good place with the necassary facilties such as swimminpool, sports, wifi, restaurant/bar and the best coffee of Tanzania. Friendly staff and manager. Prices only went up to $15 pppn.

Report Check-In

Beautiful estate. Very friendly staff. Camping here is amazing since you get a little house for yourself for showering and with a kitchen. You can even decide to sleep inside the house in a normal bed...! For two people we payed $23 for one night. They have a nice bar/restaurant with very good coffee! And if you want you can take a swim or play some tennis. It’s all there...

Report Check-In

We had two really nice days here, enjoyed very good food, clean Pool and a professional and interesting Coffe tasting.
The best first impression we ever had when arriving a "campsite", extremly friendly stuff, welcome drink included!

Report Check-In

This place is dangerous because you don’t want to leave! Getting the old bungalow (3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living, terrace) as camping facilities was just awesome. It’s surrounded by plants, birds and you have a great view and lots of space surrounding your terrace. Fun things to do: play tennis, squash, swim, do a free coffee tasting, or a coffee tour for 10$pp. You can also walk to Mbeya peak and to the coffee plantation. All securely on their grounds. Super friendly staff, the reception guy who also does the tasting is extremely helpful and a fun guy to chat with. Highly recommend this place!!!

Report Check-In

Great Lodge (working coffee estate) in lush green 20 minutes from Mbeya. Pool, restaurant, wifi, great views etc. Relax...

Overlanders will be offered huge basic bungalows in a vacation park setting for same price as camping on old heli platform. A total no brainer! Please make a reservation to be sure there is availability.

From here you can do great treks in to nearby mountains, coffee fields and nearby villages. Karibu Tanzania.

Don't go anywhere else if you hit this region.

Please do have the courtesy to order a good meal at their resto and buy the best bags of coffee available in Tanzania.

Report Check-In

Camping facilities excellent due to the fact that they allocate bungalows to the campers. Bungalows have kitchens, bathrooms and beds if you feel like a night off from your tent (at no additional charge!) with Braii area and terrace. 24/7 gated security. If camping is full, you are also able to use their Helipad field just down from the hotel. Lovely pool and great food.
If you have time, the coffee tour is very impressive and educational, best to be done in the harvest season (June,July) but still good all year round.

Report Check-In

We stayed two nights, very friendly helpful place and as described by others. We camped next to a bungalow and we paid the same price of $11.5, but had free use of the bungalow and could sleep in there too. Didn’t get to do a coffee tour due to an issue on the farm, but did a tasting in reception for free. They sold us some eggs too when we ran out. Good place to stay for r&r and also plan your next steps.

Africa4shaw
Came back for a second time as we wanted to do the coffee tour which was really good. Campsite on a flat helipad in front of the lodge, nice hot showers and ablution block clean. Restaurant good, WiFi and the best coffee you can buy in Tanzania, beautifully packaged and makes excellent gifts for back home.

Report Check-In

no real campground. we were offer a whole bungalow with 2 bedrooms and 2 washrooms, kitchen with gas and fridge for 11$ pp, we could have slept inside but we had no spare bedsheets. we camped on the flat parking area near the chalet and really enjoyed the terrasse and the amenities

Report Check-In

This place is located outside Mbeya on a coffee farm. You can do a tour here and also buy coffee, which is highly recommended.

The campsite itself is nothing special, with only a big flat field. No power, no braai, no fire pit. Abolution block is a bit dated and we had no hot water. But this is probably temperarely.

Wifi in restaurant, but slow.

We had diner in restaurant, which was okay, but not special. Service on the other hand is outstanding and staff is very friendly and helpfull.

They have a tennis court, squash court and fitness which is free to use.

Price is $11,5 pppn.

Report Check-In

super nice and very good value at $40 for single person. Excellent included breakfast. excellent all around and fast WiFi. beautiful setting.

Report Check-In

After the chaos of Mbeya, this place is an absolute treat. Lovely flat area to camp with a view, great (hot) showers, brilliant bar, restaurant and swimming pool, but best of all are the staff who were so friendly and welcoming and on hand to help with whatever they could! Couldn’t recommend this place more! 12$ pp to camp, they let us share a 1 person breakfast buffet, $10pp.

Report Check-In

A gorgeous Coffee Farm and Lodge that also has camping. $11.5 pp to camp. Can make use of all amenities such as tennis court, squash court, swimming pool. Has a stunning restaurant if you are camp food weary. Amazing coffee. Hot water as well!! Organises tours of the coffee plantation, hiking on the farm also possible.

Report Check-In

The Campground is close to the tennis court and the helipad, which was fun when our Lady parked next to a helicopter the second day. You have a nice view over the Mbeya Mountain range but the ablution block is far away. Showers are only sort of warm. But the restaurant is very nice and you can walk over the coffee farm.

Report Check-In

Camping on Heli-pad. Toilets are on other side of Volleyball, Tennis court and Squash Court. Feels like they don't really cater for camping. Campers can however use all Lodge facilities like swimming pool. $23 for camping (for two people)

Report Check-In

camping is OK. Rooms very expensive, $160-250

Report Check-In

nice place but overpriced. we stay now at icc campground mbalizi. much better. we even could not us wifi as campers in utengele

Report Check-In

Camping is on large grass field next to the tennis court. Ablution block is tiled and clean. Very hot water (via a boiler). Excellent coffees as one can expect at a working coffee farm. Dinner was below average, our beef and prawn mains were overcooked. Did a tour of the plantation, which was very informative and nice coffee at the end. WIFI only paid (10mb is free for lodge guest, not campsite)

Report Check-In

Alright for a stopover. Nice lodge but the campsite is little more than a field next to tennis courts. Staff wouldn't allow us to visit plantation, said they were irrigating field. WiFi is only free for 10mb for visitors, must pay 2usd per 50mb. Better to use mobile data, coverage is good.

Report Check-In

Nice quite site, camping on helipad/grass below restaurant, limited ablutions used by lots of people inc staff, hot water, nice pool and a good place to chill, great coffee as you would expect, restaurants food ok but quite expensive

Report Check-In

Beautiful view over the mountains, very quiet. Camping on helipad with limited charm. 11,50 USD PP.

Report Check-In

Camping area next to squash courts and gym. You can get power from the toilet block.

Report Check-In

One of the only places to stop in this area. Although in a beautiful setting, it is expensive and not geared up for campers and we found ourselves being hidden away from lodge guests. Staff were rude! $20 a night.

Report Check-In

Really nice Country Hotel with good restaurant, swimming pool, tennis and squash court. They let us camp on their helipad. Toilet and shower block are the same that is used by the tennis and squash court. We did not ask about power or water. No internet. It is a working coffee plantation and it was possible to walk over to the plantation to have a look at the production (they have Sundays off).
