Camping on flat dry grassy area. Very nice ablutions. Bar and restaurant. Very chilly at night
Turned out very pleasant for only USD$8. We also had dinner at their restaurant, which was very nice for only $5. Dedza is 1,500m up in the mountains however and we were surprised how cold it was that night (9°C). The tent was covered in dew in the morning, which we hadn’t seen for months.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Still 7kpp. Pretty good value for money. Clean ablutions and water tap available on site. Peaceful place. Was windy and very chilly at night. Good place for a stopover before crossing into Moz.
Report Check-InNice place to camp. A few level spots and a restaurant and simple bar. Kind and thoughtful staff. If the map takes you down a dirt road to get there, that is correct (the road turns to dirt)
Report Check-InI camped in a ground tent in a garden next to the Pottery. The shower had hot water and the toilet was clean. The staff were friendly. It cost US$ 8 per night. The Pottery has a restaurant with good food and ex-pats are regular visitors.
Guided tours up Dedza Mountain and to the rock heritage site are on offer. The mountain walk is very scenic with forest and flowers. Don't pay too much attention to the guide's information about the rock paintings. A quick check on the internet gives more reliable information.
Report Check-InGood stop over after or before you cross to Dedza border. Hot (donkey) shower and clean ablutions. Manager is very friendly and there is a restaurant as well (we didn’t eat there but prices were reasonable and food smelled delicious).
Paid MWK7000 pppn.
Report Check-InWe arrived here in a very heavy rainstorm. The pottery and shop are nice and there is a restaurant also. We were welcomed warmly and shown to the campsite. Due to the rain the ground was very wet and muddy but we were able to set up our rtt on a hard, dry and flat area just above the campsite. Clean and nice shower and toilets with donkey boiler fuelled hot water available morning and evening. The view is nice too. We had hoped to hike the next morning with a guide but the weather wasn't good enough. 7000 kwa pppn.
Report Check-InWe didn't especially liked the campsite. It was behind the lodge on dead grass/ sand and next to a vent pipe of a septic tank. Maybe more appealing in rainy season when things are green. Room seems better, with nice view, for a good price, but they were full when we came. Food was nice and ablutions good. We did a hike up the Dedza mountain with one of their guides and that was really nice. But wouldn't go here alone for camping.
Report Check-InEverything as described, can be paid by credit card. 7000 MK pppn for camping, 43,000 MK for double room.
Report Check-Innice place for camping. View on the montains.
Ablutions : nice, clean, hot water with donkey (evening and morning) They put eucalyptus wood, so it smells good. It is very pleasant.
and also good restaurant
fees for camping : 7000 MWK /pppn
It’s ok. But wouldn’t recommend going Dedza unless it’s an in between stop.
Then this is fine. Pottery class is fun but expensive. Food is ok.
We stayed here when my parents were visiting us, so we were pampered with a room. Very nice rooms! also nice with the chilly night.
The shower is awesome hot and hard pressure :)
Restaurant also nice and we going to make some pots.
A nice little campsite for a stopover for the border. More catered towards chalets, with the campsite clearly being an overthought.
Excellent food at the restaurant, lovely scenery and gardens, but not the camp for a day off.
lodge, spacious camping and restaurant as well as the pottery space. nice rooms and the camping looks flat and the washrooms nearby!
food nice tho fairly expensive.
can organise guided walks to the rock art for 21,000 kwacha (for 2 people).
Report Check-InThe camp site is big, very plain and the site next to the chalets you can draw power from. The lady owner was nice. For 1 night OK. The rest good restaurant pottery showroom nice, staff very helpful.
Report Check-InWe only stopped for coffee here but place seem to very well organized. Look on attached picture for accomodation prices. lots of space to camp and awesome restaurant.
Report Check-InWe aren't as enthusiastic as others about the camping setup here. The camping area is on dry grass with little shade next to the lodge's laundry area and overlooking piles of trash from pottery production. Price to camp is 3500 kwacha ($5) per person.
We were looking forward to dinner in the restaurant and we preordered at 2pm. Unfortunately they lost our order and didn't make our dinner. We cooked for ourselves.
Everything as described in the previous rating. Visa payment is available until 5:30pm.
Order food as you check in so you get it without waiting when you sit for dinner. Cheese cake is a killer, apple pie follows just behind.
There's a fire place in the restaurant, which is nice in winter.
Nice camping grounds (grass) with clean, tiled ablutions, hot water via donkey geyser, which they will heat end of day and early morning. Restaurant serves very tasty, freshly made food for good prices, although service is sometimes a bit slow. Laundry service is available (hand wash incl. ironing). 2800MK pppn.
Report Check-InVery nice place! They also have 6 nice chalets US $ 37 for 2 person per night
Report Check-InQuiet nice camp and facilities for the price of 2400 MWK pp/night.
They have now an ablution block which is beautifuly done with their own made tiles.
Check out their beef curry in the restaurant, it's extremely tasty!
Quiet campground next to pottery where you can buy nice things from the shop, 1600m over sea level, might get chilly in the evening, hiking trail to Mt Dedza (2100m)
Report Check-InCamping on flat dry grassy area. Very nice ablutions. Bar and restaurant. Very chilly at night!!
Cost:MK1300
