Something not right?

Description

One of my favorite in BC. Fantastic spot by the Kootenay River. Several campsites along the road past the National Park boundaries (where wild camping is prohibited), firerings, table, pit toilets. The last spot at the end of the dirt road is the best IMHO. Usually quiet even on summer weekends. Bring your rubber raft (good quality, not something from Mall-Wart) if you have one, and go down the river all the way where the Kootenay meets Canal flats if you have a few days, and camp out on the shore. Make sure you have someone downriver to pick you up :: Epic!

Beautiful place! As described by others. The forest road is an easy drive, the drive down to the rec site (few hundred meters) was a bit of a challenge in a 2wd low clearance vehicle but we made it ok (dry conditions; if muddy, there are some spots by the forest road (no amenities)).

Great spot right on this turquoise river. 4-5 spots total. There was one other rig there on a Monday in July. They were floating the next day.

Great little Rec site, beautiful beach along the river as it's super low. Hard to imagine rafts coming through. Still some ice on the way down, but not that bad. Settlers is in really good shape.

Nice place with 5 spots. We have chosen the third one. There are picnic table, fireplace and toilet. The river front is beautiful!

Nice spot.
The road has gone partly due to a land slide. Still accessible but maybe not for large vehicles.

This place is amazing! Still a bit of snow at the end of April and a couple trees hanging over the road down, but our ford econoline van got down there with no issues. Like most people, we stayed at the last campsite and it was the best. Super clean, please keep it that way :)

Amazing spot right on the river with picnic tables and fire pits. Came on a friday night and there were no other campers but it's a popular place for rafters to put in so there was people around all day. The site across the river was absolutely rammed, don't bother on a weekend. Road in a little wet and narrow but we got down in a camper okay.

Stunning spot. Absolutely loved it here. As already stated, the two spots at the end are the best, right by the river. This side of the river is is heavy shade in the morning until at least 10:00hrs. If you are camping and want morning sun to warm up, go to the spot on the other side of the river (as mentioned by Nomads365 below). This is a USER-MAINTAINED recreational area, so look after it and leave it clean.

We missed the downhill turn off Settlers Rd but backtracked and found it. It had been raining pretty heavy prior to our arrival so Settlers Rd was really muddy. No traction problems but our truck was a mess. We got the spot beside the river. Not very level but we made it work. There were others camped further up the road.

NOTE: If you're reading this and thinking of coming to this spot we noticed another camp site directly across the river from here. It has picnic tables so may also have a toilet. It was unoccupied when we were here. It looks like taking Kootenay-Palliser Forest Service Road from the highway (north of Settlers Rd) would get you there.

Was great. I got the spot right at the end. Nice shore, fun to watch the rafters go by.
