Beautiful spot by the Charyn river. The drive down the canyon is pretty scenic, but not for big rigs of low clearance vehicles. Flat spot for a couple of vehicles, very green and some shade and a pit toilet.
Ride down the canyon is awesome (use 4x4). We just visited, did not camp here. At the river a guy who pretended to be a ranger (did show Russian ID card) came by and showed some papers with Russian text and something like 745Tenge. He wanted me to pay for being in the canyon as far as I understood. He wanted to see a receipt of the main entrance or I should pay him here. We left without paying since we think this part is free. He was okay with it so maybe this was not officially required?
Spectacular ride down the canyon. Very quiet, we were alone.
Very nice spot, beautiful and quiet. one of our best camping spots so far.
