Description

This is on a white sand beach of Lake Powell. To get here you will drive through Crosby Canyon which is an unimproved sandy road off of Highway 89. When you are approximately 0.5 miles from the campsite the road will appear to fork in 3 directions. DO NOT go straight, as I did so thinking it was the correct path and ended up sinking in the sand. I then had to recover my vehicle and back nearly a half mile back out WITH A TRAILER. You will turn right at this fork, going up a rather steep incline. The campsite is a very clean spot with a fire pit and a beach that gets gradually deeper. 4wd high clearance vehicle recommended. It is about 8 miles off Hwy 89 but takes approximately 1 hour. You will see another campground on iOverlander 0.5 miles east of this location. It is not accessible when the water is up.

Crosby Canyon is beautiful! The drive is definitely for special vehicles. we have a 2020 Rav 4 4wheel drive and we could not make the road. the clearance is a MUST. The sand is thick and the road is confusing. This spot is amazing but be someone who knows how to navigate off road. My driving partner is good and I was the spotter but the road is not easy for a car without a minimum of 1ft clearance. we made it all the way to this first marked campsite before having to turn around. Also.... the turns are blind and people are driving for fun on these roads,we nearly had a front end collision with a large vehicle who was driving fast on the back roads. Enter with focus!

Stayed here on a week long overland trip. I took the right road as suggested and got lead off the track. When we left we drove out of camp and stayed in the creek bed and didn’t have any problems. Turns out that was the middle toad at the fork. I am driving a 4x4 Tacoma.

This spot is INCREDIBLE!! The drive in is stunning, the lake is refreshing and the views are amazing. The drive in is mostly gravel until you hit the last leg which has some sandy spots. Upon arrival we met someone who got stuck in the sand so just be aware, stay high and watch the roads. No cell service here. If staying on the lake be prepared for wind. There are catfish in this lake jumping like crazy so come prepared if you like to fish.

Tried getting here in our 4x4 Sprinter but failed .6 miles from the site because of a off-camber washed out road. Road was perfect getting here but this one obstacle prevented us. Based on a short walk down the path ahead, I’d also be curious to see if this is even next to the water anymore with recent water levels...looked like a lot of the cove had dried up.
