Zimbabwe
Amazing views! Great location on top of the hill looking over the National Park. Facilities run-down and just not working. Toilets have been replaced with new ones and showers are rebuilt but not with any modern standards.
Shop and restaurant are closed, no cell phone signal, power or internet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Not all too bad. Toilets and showers have been redone. We had a beautiful view down the pan. Just before we arrived they saw Rhino's down the pan.
In december everything is beautiful green. But hardly any animals around the area. If you have limited time, recommend staying around the Kennedy Pans.
Report Check-InMaybe just see it as an expensive wild camping spot....
Nice view, no animals when I was there but maybe due time of the year. Arrived at 16.00 and explored the park the next day.
Running water and even toilet paper...
Fire wood available.
I loved that i was alone and very peaceful setting.
Went trough the park and saw the other camps, I think this one is the most private.
Report Check-InThey didn't accept campers because "no water" so we had to book in Mandavu camp (50$/ppn!, 25$ for kids + entry taxes), big budget but we saw lions the next morning.
Report Check-Innice place to camp. you re in the bush
.. lonely, shower available. view is indeed on burned down pan but hey, it will recover.
The most running down place in Zimbabwe.
A lot of stuff people, but all of them playing with the Cellphone. All the Lodge houses , restaurants and other place looks like a „ lost place „ The only thing what can be used, is the campsite. There is hot water, firewood, but no power and the „ amazing view „ was a view of a burned down pan. We saw not only one animal, nothing 🙈🙈. And this for ( 57.— $ campsite + 100.— $ Parkfee ) for two people. Never again!!!!
Addendum: Here BigRig are let in without any problems, the same applies to Robin's camp. The roads are for BigRig no problem at all.
Report Check-InThe view is great, but a bit desolate at this time of the year without greenery. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The cottages are mostly ruins and make a distressing impression.
Report Check-InStill not much progress on renovations, they should make this a private camp like Robins and renovate everything from scratch. Currently the price is too high for nothing.
Bar, shop and restaurant are closed and it seems they will not reopen any time soon as only the walls of the building are standing.
People at reception are very kind!
No cell phone reception or internet, power at ablutions was not working.
Report Check-InGreat place as described. $17 pppn for camping. Nice view over the river plains. Still not much progress on the needed bathroom renovations. The caretaker lit the donkey shower, but the water was still cold for us. But sounded like they will fix this.
Were recommended the River loop as game drive. It is signposted but the bridge close to the Southern end of the loop, a few km before joining the main road again is out and no way around for crossing the steep river banks, so keep in mind you have to drive all the way back. If you don't want to do that start on the Southern end to find out soon, but that bridge apparently has been out for years and might be for years to come.
Stunning views! If you don't mind the rundown ablutions you'll enjoy it a lot! Everything very clean including toilets and showers. No Econet network at all.
Report Check-InWe didn't stay as we managed to get reservations at both Masuma and Mandavu dams from the office. We last stayed here in 2019 and the facilities were very run down then. There are continuing rumours of an imminent refurbishment but they've been going on for years.
The location of the campsite on top of a steep hill is truly spectacular and the staff do what they can to help.
Sadly very run down even if they have great views. If you have the time push on to Masuma Dam (book st office) about 1.5 hours toward Main Camp. great wildlife viewing there.
Report Check-Inwhat a view! its right, facillities run down, but when we arrived everything was really clean so they do the best to keep that place running! realky worth a visit!
Report Check-InGreat view but actually too much money for what you get. Abolutions are really run down. But the view is amazing. We heard a lion in the evening. 17$pppn
Report Check-InBeautiful surrounding and view from the camping! You can see valley and waterhole from the hill. Braai, fireplace and common picnic area. No electricity at sites. Very nice staff especially Agnes which can bring you firewood and make a fire. Ablutions in a pretty bad condition (lots of big spiders and bugs, dirty) but next morning Agnes cleaned them. We had cold showers. 10 usd per vehicle, 10 usd pp entrance fee if you’re staying in the park for the night * 17 usd pp for camping. Two days one night in the park for two people= 64 usd
Report Check-InWhat a view!! Not much game around the area at this time of the year but you’ll see elephants and hippo at the dam a bit south. Beers at the shop only 1 USD.
Report Check-InWOW, what a view!
Ablution old but okay. Hot water from the donkey and firewood provided free of charge.
Wow, what a stunning location. On a hill overlooking the entire area, up to the horizon, no civilisation or lights. The camp warden can bring you fire wood, which is included in the price. He also lights the fire for the hot shower. Ablutions old but okay, not dirty this time. 17$ pp + 10$ pp park entry + 10 $ for the car. The latter one we did not have to pay again, apparently only once per stay. Highly recommended for the fantastic view.
Report Check-InApprox. 6 sites at the ridge with a great view, ablutions old, but clean. Seems to be the current caretaker, who is very anxious.
He brings you firewood and lightens it. He does your dishwashing and washing for a tip.
Regrettably not little animals to see.
$17pppn + park entry of $10pppn and $10 per vehicle per night. So one night camping for two people and one vehicle is a total of US$64. Having looked at the site and that price tag, we turned around and left. I don’t mind roughing it out in the wilds, but I am not paying that price for worse than nothing!
Ablutions are more than a little run down. It was disgusting. Toilets hanging off the wall, ceiling hanging down, windows smashed with glass all over the floor. The site just looks completely derelict, as it if was abandoned 20 years ago, and no-one has been back to clean or maintain it at all in that time.
A real shame.
Amazing view. We saw lions and elephants down in the valley. The ablutions are run down and quite dirty. The staff is very friendly.
Report Check-InDescriptions as below. Heard lion at night, saw 30 elephants in the valley at sunset, 5 painted dogs in the road in the morning.
17$ pppn
10$ for the car
10$ pp park entry fees (arrived 4 pm and stayed until 6pm next day)
Great location on top of the hill looking over the National Park. Facilities run down.
