Random pull off parking lot on the entrance road leading into Great Sand Dunes National Park. About 10 minutes from the park entrance. Some car traffic, but not bad.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nice pull out , we stayed 2 nights was quiet at night. Great view of the dunes and mountains at just 10 minutes from the park visitors center .
Report Check-InSpot is exactly as described! Road noise can be a little loud, but not many cars driving by once it gets dark. Perfect spot right outside the park if you’re planning on hiking the dunes early in the morning
Report Check-InIt's a pull off on the side of the road. Cars going by, but nothing too bad. Pretty big space, room for a few vehicles.
Report Check-InConvenient spot just outside of the park. Only one other vehicle on a Thursday night.
Report Check-InLarge pull out on the side of the road, slept here in my truck on a Tuesday night and it was only me. After the sun went down the street got very quiet with only the occasional car passing. About 12 mins from the park entrance. Easy, nice views, great sunset, and heard lots of coyotes tapping in the distance. Would recommend!
Report Check-InAs others have said, it's a pulloff right next to the road. Some traffic throughout the night, but mostly pretty quiet. One other person was there. A couple cops showed up around 3 am, and I thought I was gonna get a knock, but they didn't even get out of their vehicles. They just talked for a few minutes and drove off. Pretty good spot for doing the dunes the next day.
Report Check-InGreat spot for overnight parking. Some traffic in the road but nothing too bad. Beautiful view of the plains and super easy access to Great Sand Dunes NP.
Report Check-InNice little pull off. Going to cook dinner here and sleep in the car. Quite windy though.
Report Check-InEasy place to spend a night while visiting Great Sand Dunes. On a Saturday night, there were at least four other vehicles there. Still very quiet. Great Verizon service & LTE
Report Check-InNice quiet place to stay outside of Sandunes. Great views and was absolutely left alone. No one else stayed here tonight, but it was a Wednesday evening. Stay here!
Report Check-InSuper close the dune parking lot and visitor center. Quiet after dark and we were alone most of the night. Beautiful views as well!
Report Check-InSuper easy spot for the night, close to the park. Cars move fast but was very quiet at night, no one else here but it’s the off season. 2-3 bars Verizon lte.
Report Check-InGreat Overnight spot for the night :) super close to the national park and At&T LTE
Report Check-InA great spot to park overnight near Great Sand Dunes! Had no trouble fitting our 22-foot van. There was some noise of passing cars, but it wasn’t too bothersome. Breathtaking views in the morning.
Report Check-InAs described. Five vehicles camped; some traffic noise. Incredible night sky. Excellent spot. Coyotes yipping and cowgirl rounding up horses added to ambience. Great view of Crestone. Someone left a biobag... please pack out your waste.
Report Check-InGreat little pullout next to the dunes, bit noisy due to highway traffic.
Report Check-InDon’t be dissuaded by the cars zipping by prior to sunset. Once the park closes it’s quiet. About 5 vehicles here. Vans, RV, small trailer. Flush toilets at the park picnic spot just inside the park.
Report Check-InNice spot! Just down the road from Great Sand Dunes NP and fairly quiet! There were only 2 of us here. It was definitely buggy though- my pup didn’t appreciate all the little flies trying to bite her haha. Right off the side of the road, not a busy road at all, but the cars definitely go fast so something to consider if you have pets or kids!
Report Check-InNice pull off. Road traffic quiets down at night. Great place to stay for an early start for the dunes. There were 2 other vehicles here overnight.
Report Check-InLate June checking in. Nice spot although not level (fine if you sleep downward). Just want to point out that there are a lot of flies/gnats/mosquitoes at this time of the year. Good if you stay concealed in your van (which we did). A Jeep with some dudes stopped by and did not last long. Another van is by us for the night.
Report Check-InAmazing spot near the park! Stayed 3 nights, very peaceful at night some road traffic during the day. Only Saturday did we have other campers park with us still a couple spots.
Report Check-InStayed here Saturday night with one other van, no issues. Quiet and very close to the national park.
Report Check-InSo close to Sand Dunes National Park! Like others have said, busy during the day, but quiet at night! there's only maybe 5 or 6 parking spots, but only one other camper stayed overnight next to us. We stayed one night.
Report Check-InGreat spot for view of the dunes when you first wake up. It's really meant for parking for Zapato Falls so it is trafficked during the day which is a reason for the 4 star. Another reason is because of the slopped ground. But overall a great spot to stay for the night.
Report Check-InFree, road but so quiet! View. No amenities. Near the park and the zapta falls.
Report Check-InJust as stated. A little gravel area just on the side of the road. Road is pretty quiet at night. ATT reception. Perfect for a night right outside the dunes. Nothing too fancy.
Report Check-InPerfect spot right outside the park, with beautiful views especially the sunset. Some cars go by, but it wasn't bad.
Report Check-InTwo sections of gravel (one is in front of a memorial for some sort of accident so we didn’t park there). Gets SUPER windy but it’s quiet and full of stars.
Report Check-InParking at the midle of nowhere .Near the road , calm in night . Ten minutes of dunes . Nothing else here than cowboy and their horse but it's free ....;)
