Lots of small camping spots along Kiwanis Camp Road, which leads to Zigzag Falls. Beautiful greenery along the river and lots of previous fire pits that lead me to believe camping and fires are ok here. The falls themselves are lovely too.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
It’s a beautiful area as everyone has described with many spots along the road. Take the hike to the falls; they’re only about three tenths of a mile, from the trailhead and worth the look! Grateful!
Report Check-InLoved this place! Rushing creek serenaded us all night. Found a fairly flat spot for our 28’ Class C. 2bars Verizon and T-Mobile.
Report Check-InAs advertised - several spots along side a very quiet road. Nice stream next to a lot of the sites near the coordinates, ports potty at both trailheads further up. 2 bars Verizon intermittently works well to stream most of the time, 2 bars ATT same deal. Not perfectly level but close. Many trees to hammock and primitive fire rings. Paved road easy access pack out your trash this place is nice don’t ruin it
Report Check-InAn easy to access paved road with small pullouts, great for vans or street vehicles, nice disperse camping in the woods, but trash littered around the fire place and some toilet paper in the forests, nothing to write home about but people need to work on LEAVING NO TRACE!!! If your out there pack out EVERYTHING even your toilet paper, we know it’s gross but it’s worse for the next person :) overall great spot would go again!
Report Check-Intruly one of the best spots we’ve found to camp along our 10 months on the road!! for car camping, tent camping, even stringing your hammocks up in the woods—so many amazing dispersed sites (as all national forests should have), regardless of what side of the road you’re on, there’s a creek on either side. relatively quiet, smooth paved road. walking distance to the short, but very scenic Zig Zag Falls and Hidden Lake Trail (porta potty at the trailhead). at&t and verizon. met some amazing fellow campers, too.
Report Check-Inlots of campers and lots of spots to park right on the side of the road. dispersed camping in woods and in roadside. close to a short trail to some falls. porta potty available
Report Check-InA mix of easy small roadside pull outs along with a few areas for bigger rigs. A little road noise with some traffic, but a perfect stop over especially when visiting Mount Hood.
Report Check-InRoad 39 off the hwy about 7 minutes from govy. We pulled in around 8pm on a Friday night. At first pass it appeared all the decent spots were taken. Some spots where you could park on the side of the road, but we lucked out and found what seemed to be the last pull in with a fire pit. Agree with previous iOverlander the rhododendrons add a nice touch! There was a very brave mouse who was very interested in us and made several approaches. Not much of a bother, but we dubbed the spot mouse camp. Not wilderness camping by any means but scenic, private, and super easy. Will be back.
Report Check-InThis is still a place with lots of camp sites along the road. It is not a wilderness experience.
The Kiwanis Camp and a church camp are on this road and they appear quite busy. The road is paved, and the camping is alongside the road. So this is a good location if you are driving a regular street vehicle.
The day I was there, it looked like all the sites were in use. This is close to Portland, and the access is very easy.
I visited in early June, and the rhododendrons were spectacular.
