Nice viewpoint. we may sleep there tonight.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot just like everyone says. No "NO" signs whatsoever. Actually quite an incredible gift of a spot so please take care of it, i.e. be stealth and leave no trace. 😎 (Note: this Vista Point is up a hill a bit and foliage allows for some visual privacy and din from the main road. The other "vista point" just north a few miles is right on the main road and is completely exposed to traffic and noise.)

Report Check-In

Great view over the reservoir. Flat area for several bud rigs. No signs forbidding camping. No tent space. About 100 yards from the road, paved access

Report Check-In

Good place! No have information about no Overnight.

Report Check-In

Neat Vista Point without "no" signs. Pretty level and space for ~10, depending on size. Sun sets in the reservoir so get ready for a nice sunset. And PLEASE take your trash with you, this includes toilet paper which does not decompose quickly unlike many seem to assume given the amount found on a quick stroll. TMobile hit and miss. Road noise acceptable.

Report Check-In

A good place to rest after a long drive going from Lake Tahoe to Yosemite National Park. We left from Lake Tahoe by the afternoon and had a quiet night at this vista point.

Report Check-In

As described. Nice spot. A few others here. Some trash. Not too bad. Picked up what I could reach.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot for the night!! Quiet & clean.

Report Check-In

Really big lot, perfect for staying before you head in to Yosemite. The space itself doesn’t have any garbage but it is strewn about in the trees EVERYWHERE along the trails on the hill above. View is great, met some cool dudes with crazy karts and chatted to them for an hour. Only one other van there for the night.

Report Check-In

On my way to Yosemite this is a great place to sleep for a night. Free quiet dark. There was about 4 rigs here. One to remember.

Report Check-In

Such a nice spot to spend the night. The view on the lake is beautiful, plenty of space, some cell reception and not to noisy. Would recommend this place 100%

Benji & Audrey travelling with our Truck Camper

Report Check-In

Alright so I pulled up here in the evening before sundown and got ready to stay the night in my car. Ended up changing my mind and leaving due to the piles of poop all over the place, as well as the bags full of it laying around. Decent view of lake, people stop by to visit the point, but it slowed down around 5.

Report Check-In

As described great convenient spot to rest head for the night with full ATT service showed up 2200 on Friday night and still space, bunch of other overnighters, no issues, nice views minimal road noise

Report Check-In

We stayed one night with our 29 ft RV. Quite and safe. Nice view on the lake when wake up.

Report Check-In

This place calls itself moccasin point so I'm not sure we're in quite the same place as advertised here but it's a big RV park with all the mod cons and quite picturesque. some road noise and the odd mozzy

Report Check-In

Police pulled in after dark around 5pm and ran another vehicles plates. The abandoned car was dropped off about a half hour prior… very strange. Pic attached. I’m in a Sprinter and was cooking with the windows and fan going so clearly he could see I was making myself at home and settling in for the night. Police left without saying anything to me and I had no issues staying overnight.
I am fully self-contained so I didn’t go down any of the trails, can’t speak for their current cleanliness.
The highway quiets down at night but traffic started to get heavy on a weekday around 0530.
2-3 bars Verizon LTE depending on where you park. I was able to log onto work VPN without issues.

Report Check-In

Nice view. Not much road noise this time of year

Report Check-In

Large paved area just off Hwy 120 overlooking the reservoir. No one else here on a Tuesday.

Report Check-In

Nice stop for an overnight on the way to Yosemite. Views we're pretty but smoky.

Report Check-In

Stayed here with 1 other vehicle. Quiet, no bugs as others described. A lot of the trash has been cleaned up. Thought the view was just alright, but good place to park for the night.

Report Check-In

Perfect. View on the lake. Leveled. No amenities. 5 cars with us tonight.

Report Check-In

great spot off the highway coming down from Yosemite. there were non-campers flying drones at night, others were here to watch the sunset/chill. lots of biting bugs at dusk, so be aware! no cell signal for t-mobile.

Report Check-In

The correct name for this spot is the Don Pedro Reservoir Vista Point. It's a great place for a free overnight. Large parking lot, with a good view of the reservoir - nice to wake up to! The parking lot is level, and spaced back from the road by an access road that is a few hundred feet long. Very little traffic at night, so it's pretty quiet. I pushed it a bit and stayed 2 nights. No-one bothered me at all during that time. There are 2 trails leading from the parking lot, though they are nothing to write home about. The one nearest the entrance is very short, though it is elevated, and does give you a fairly good view of the area. I only walked 100 feet or so into the other one and was not inspired to go any further. There was some trash lying around and, judging from my observations, a few locals use that trail to relieve themselves when they have no other options. I don't see any other reason why someone would park at the entrance to the trail, disappear down it for 2 or 3 minutes, come back, and drive straight off!

Anyway, the parking lot is large and clean, and it's a great free camping spot. Will definitely use this again when in the area. There are no restrooms or other facilities. Room for big rigs.

Report Check-In

Truly an incredible camp spot! We’ve been traveling for 1.5 years and this is one of our favorite places. Hard to believe places like this exist for free. Good cell service on ATT.

Report Check-In

Big empty lot, pulled in at night so couldn’t see much but close off the road and plenty of space

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place to sleep with a view! No restrooms

Report Check-In

good tmobile service! level parking lot, awesome views. barely noticed the highway. highly recommend here

Report Check-In

Parking lot tucked in the trees 2 minutes away from the highway. Nice view, but there's so much trash and human waste, it's unbelievable. Who comes to a cool, free spot like that and leave all kinds of s**t like that? Unbelievable. We parked at around 7.30pm on a Friday night, there were 2 other cars already here. 2 more pulled up after 10pm. This lot is large enough for at least 10 rigs, if not more. Lots of bird chirping, hiking trail nearby. Good cell service (cricket and atnt).
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR GARBAGE YOU GARBAGE PEOPLE!

Report Check-In

Can recommend! Quiet and nice spot. No washrooms so please pack out, and pick your dogs poop up, too.

Report Check-In

This place is beautiful, but:
If you don't have a shovel and a bag,
If you don't have a toilet with you,
use a campgrounds.
Car and Vancamper (at least 85%) are the reason why the campsites are wrongly closed for RV.
They leave their excrements and toilet tissue on the roads around those great sites.
Nope, I am not against Van and Car Campers. I learned how to use a shovel and that is all I want you to do. The laziness upsets me and it's terrible how ruthless locals are treated.

Report Check-In

Very beautiful lake and scenery, watched the sunset was stunning, paths are definitely full of TP, pretty disgusting. Quiet night couple vehicles turned up no issues would recommend.

Report Check-In

Nice and calm. No amenities. No wind. Three vans at the place.

Report Check-In

The best kind of spot in the « one nighter » category.
Stayed on the way out of Yosemite, ready to continue our journey North West.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view and quiet. No issues staying overnight. If you are staying here, PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF after going to the bathroom off the little trail. Dig a cat hole and simply put your toilet paper and wipes in a ziploc bag and throw it out when you get to a trash can. Please don’t ruin it for everyone.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous view of the lake and mountains. Great for overnight stay. Only one other car when I arrived. Very quiet. Free.

Report Check-In

Quiet spot with view of the lake. The short trails on the hill are beautiful except for the toilet paper and poop. If you do this you are awful. Clean up after yourself!

Report Check-In

Such a beautiful view. We had the place to ourselves. It’s very quiet after dark!

Report Check-In

Beautiful Parking spot near the street, but quiet at night!

Report Check-In

it is a good paved place for overnight. but around it both trails are poop trails. everything else is a cliff.

Report Check-In

As described by others, a Vista Point pulloff from the highway. We were the second ones in but more folks showed up later. The highway quiets down a bit at night. No garbage cans so pack your trash out so the area remains free.

Report Check-In

We arrived quite late in our self contained SUV, there were camper vans parked for the night. The site is very quiet. Beautiful sunrise in the morning over the lake.

Report Check-In

Vistapoint, parking place close to main road, but quiet. Nice View of the lake. no signs at all

Report Check-In

Nice spot with a view on the lake . Quiet at night . We saw so much garbage on the little trail we thought it is a shame that people do not respect those places anymore . We, overlander, need to keep those quiet spots clean so they don't forbid overnight parking . Anyway it is a good flat spot and we had a wonderful drink and dinner at sunset .

Report Check-In

There is currently paving work being done at night, no room or quiet. Find another spot for the time being!!

Report Check-In

No amenities, but nice quite place to pull up and sleep for the night. Beautiful view of the lake. No reception for T-Mobile.

Report Check-In

Stayed with maybe 3-4 other vehicles on a Wednesday night. Hardly any noise from the highway. T-mobile service isn’t the best but has its moments. View is nice and beautiful to sit with a beer or wine and watch the sunset.
