Deep pullout off of Highway 1. Pulled in around 9:30 pm. There were a couple of vehicles there already and a few people sitting around a fire. The pullout was long enough that I could keep good distance and didn’t have any had a pleasant, uneventful overnight. The pullout was filling with surfers when I left in the morning. This stretch of Hwy 1 has little late night traffic, but it picks up in the early morning hours.
Report Check-InWe parked there around 5pm and at 8pm a park ranger came and gently told us we could not stay there (even there were no signs). We ended parking at santa cruz safeway parking lot, and nobody bodered us (even there are "no overnight" signs everywhere)
Report Check-InLarge pull off. We slept here for the night with a few other cars and no one bothered us. The traffic picked back up in the morning so we left early, as it was pretty loud.
Also it’s a short walk to the beach. We watched a beautiful sunset. Would stay here again.
This rest area is touching the state park on its southern tip. Spotless and noisy, except at night as the traffic stops. No sign prohibiting parking. Tip: go for a nice morning walk at the northern end of the area. A nice trail takes you to the beach and park.
