We enjoyed our stay at the plot just near the lake. Many birds and otters passing by now and then. We had the privacy we wanted and found the manager caring rather than pushy. Ask if they can open the gift shop and get a T shirt with nice prints.

We stayed for two nights. Did not take up any of the excursions on offer, too expensive, although we now know a gorilla trekking permit costs $700 so theirs is actually cheap. Enjoyed our stay. No hot water in showers but ablutions are spotless. Too expensive, firewood, to light donkey for two people. Friendly staff, safe etc and did have access to power but they’re also on solar and it was mostly cloudy so our electricity declined a lot. Went for a nice walk and enjoyed our barbecue. All in all a pleasant two night stay. 3/5

Relatively chill spot on Lake Mutanda. We camped by the lake, but as others have said, there's no privacy. The manager, Rubafos, is nice but pretty pushy with the expensive activities. Asked for $10 pppn, we negotiated to 30,000 shillings. There are now showers with lukewarm water. The walk from the campsite around the lake is gorgeous, but a lot of harassment for money. Overall, we liked it and stayed 4 nights.

There are 3 areas for camping:
At the lake where it can be quite windy and definitely not private.
In the carpark behind the kitchen. Here there is a fenced-off grass area too, so if you have a ground tent this is a good spot.
There is a level grass area above this, but access is quite tight for a vehicle. We just managed to get our troopy LC up, but only just! See picture. Apparently no one else has ever driven a cruiser up there, so there you go.

Stayed 2 nights here. Very nice place with beautiful views. Manager Gilbert is friendly always willing to help you feel comfortable. We camped with our rooftop tent by the lake but there was always people passing around. If you want privacy is better to camp at the fenced Parking Lot which has a beautiful volcano view. Hot showers only in bucket. Great internet signal with MTN. They asked for 10 USD ppn slightly negotiable when paying with UGX.

Stayed here one night on the edge of the lake. Beautiful views and nice guys running it (Innocent). Campsite is ideally located and secure. The staff will prepare hot water for a bucket shower if you request.
Restaurant on site and bar with a great view. Nice little path along the lake edge for bird viewing etc...
Unfortunately when we stayed there were an indescribable amount of mosquitoes, we've been travelling for over 3months from South Africa and nothing even comes close. We couldn't cook dinner, as there were without exaggeration 10s of thousands. With that in mind it makes it a bit difficult to recommend. Perhaps we were just unlucky with timing.
Up by the bar and that, there seemed to be significantly less mosquitoes, but unfortunately at the waters edge it was overwhelming. In every other respect I would highly recommend.

directly at the beautiful lake. New sanitary buildings. Remote place to relax and wonderful canoe trips (5US$pp) across the lake to watch a rich bird life. The food is delicious. Wooden decks for fishing and swimming. 10US$pp but we negotiated 6US$.

This place is shown in the wrong location (by a very long way), and it is also shown in the wrong location on maps.me
The correct location is at the south end of Lake Mutanda - on maps.me they say that Mutanda Eco Tourist Resort is here, while MECC is shown about half way up on the eastern side of the lake. MECC is actually at the south end location.

We stayed three nights. Cost $6 pppn to camp. As it was raining we set up camp in the big building at the bottom of the hill - raised wooden floor, good roof, one open side, even had a proper fireplace. No running water but the team brought water on request. Long drop toilets and bucket shower. They give a bucket of hot water for the shower if you ask. Really friendly and helpful staff. We managed to get gorilla trek permits here through the owner of the Golden Monkey hotel (he also runs MECC) with only 24 hours notice.
