MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced
The greater portions of the Mission Bay Area has parking controlled parking lots (no parking 2am to 6am) but there are a couple areas that do not have any "no overnight parking" signs. Look for this exact point, which has a lot of short term travelers and long term vans and Rv's.
It is a beautiful place with restroom amenities, cold showers, picnic tables and fire pits. It is also a short drive to Fiesta island, a large "drive on the beach" public area. There is no parking in the mission Bay Area on Tuesdays as they do street cleaning once per week.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
I used to sleep here regularly. But since July 3rd and the whole street being lined with fifth wheels and RVs camping and leaving their trash behind, new signs have posted all along the street stating, “Habitation in vehicle prohibited at all times.” There are still others who camp here. Do so at your own risk.
Report Check-InSpent 4 nights with other RV s and vans but got woken up at 4am by polite young police on Tuesday. They kicked everyone out of Mission Bay Area.
Report Check-InAwesome, quiet. We are parking on the road indicated by the GPS coordinates, but pleanty more parking along Mission Bay Drive. Lots of RVs overnight. Beach, playground, and near downtown - couldn't be beyyer!
Report Check-InParked our 22 ft RV at the street where the sign of no parking on Tuesdays for street sweeping was located due to the positive reviews this site had in mission bay. Cops came and gave everyone tickets at 3 am. I woke up in time to drive away. Sadly saw my fellow van lifers and RV'rs get ticketed. Won't recommend staying here over night. Also don't park in the street in the mission bay area, looks like police are enforcing the no parking signs from 2am - 6am more ever since the law allowing people to live in their vehicles went through. I've gotten ticketed there already once.
Report Check-InA little noisy from the freeway, but gets quiet overnight. I’m also a light sleeper. Quiet and safe to hang for an evening. Bathrooms were a plus.
Report Check-Invery nice place for overnight parking in san diego. there are signs saying parking lot is closed from 10pm to 4 am. so we stayed on the street which is allowed except street cleaning on tuesday morning.
Report Check-InSlept here 4 nights, great spot! The first night I had to move a bit farther because a car parked behind me and played loud music (it was a Friday night).
Report Check-Inplace very pleasant and calm, many vans and RV presents, beautiful view of the bay, forbidden to park the tuesday from 7 to 10 am. We spent several nights without any problems with our 24 feet.
Report Check-InThere is a sign at the entrance to this spot saying no allowed habitation in vehicles but there was a lot of overlanders with campervans, trailers and motorhomes, some sayd by three weeks and had no problems.
Report Check-InThis area is not closed. Spent many nights in Mission Bay parking lots in the last three weeks!
Report Check-Insigns saying habitation in vehicles is not allowed at any time. throughout the whole park!
Report Check-Insigns saying habitation in vehicles is not allowed at any time. throughout the whole park!
Report Check-InMission Bay Park is a beautiful Bay side park that sees a lot of overnight use from the local surf scene as well as some longer term residences. Quiet place to pull over for the night, and pretty obvious at times that people are here longer than a couple days. Probably best to not park your vehicle here and go into town as a couple units along the road had some form of citation on their window (probably from being "too-long-term").
Report Check-InNo "no overnight parking" sign at some points of Mission Bay park. Look for this exact point, there are lot of Rv's.
Some of the parking lots in the park close during the night.
It is a beautiful place with amenities, picnic tables and fire pits.
Street sweeping on Tuesdays.
