Something not right?

Description

There is nothing, just open space for free camping. After you go through the city, the pavement turns into dirt and then you reach an arroyo, from there you can take right or continue as there is lots of free camping options. If you continue straight you will reach the beach (big rigs probably want to go straight) with palapas - also free camping.

Spot is as described, big arroyo with lots of space for dispersed camping. You can no longer access the palapas from this location as the road has been washed out. Note that google map directions are also a little off as they will direct you to turn down a road that has been closed off for beach access. Follow google maps until the last turn, then ignore it. Simply drive another 10 seconds and take the next right. Great spot for wind sports and accessing mountain bike trails.

This location is in the arroyo between residential/rentals(south) and the hot spring(north), where it is ok to camp and free. The areas north of this have special restrictions of beach access, beach driving, and camping, so definitely pay attention if searching out anything north of this dot on the map.
I am here New Year’s Eve afternoon. Some campers, nice chill vibe. Incredible snorkeling/kayaking when wind is down. When wind is up, wind sports enthusiasts love this area. Win/win for all:)

Report Check-In

The police are now making campers move from the palapa area and relocate late evening. I think the palapas are for day use only and overnight parking/camping will no longer be permitted. We saw them move over a dozen rigs last night and Again this morning.

Report Check-In

This place is permanently closed.

Report Check-In

It appears that the municipality no longer wants large rigs staying at the palapas. Last night, the authorities came and made people pack up and move (in the dark), away from the palapas to the area outside of the day area. Maybe it is just on weekends. I think the palapas are for day use only now. If you do not want to pack up in the night, find a place in town or at the parking lot (at the ‘e’ sign), before you get to the palapas.

Update: the above is verified. This morning, we witnessed 3 police vehicles stop at a palapa with an SUV and trailer on the beach and asked them to leave, since they did not leave last night. The police videoed the event and took photos of the truck, camper, license plate, people, etc. The police were very nice to the couple who seemed not to want to leave.

Report Check-In

This is a best place but be warned…NO CAMPING IS ALLOWED Plove came and kicked out 10 rigs right after dark. There are some more permanent clamping trailers across the road but the beachside sides are supposed to be walk in for the day only. You can campin the designated parking areas BEFORE you start to come to the palapas or you can go beyond all the palapas to the hot springs area at the far end. But it seems pretty steep in that area.

We popped in here after checking out a spot further north. Very crowded and quite have possibly had someone disguised as an overlander prepped to steal things around (read my review for “North of Sargenta -Open Beach”). We moved on to a different spot.

Nice place at the beach to camp for free.a spot to kite or mountainbike

Loved this spot. It's hard to get far from the road yet at the same time traffic on the main road goes quite slow due to the washboard effect. Camp by the palapas or go a bit further. There's a turn around right before the road jogs left. There's also hot springs here. There should be a blue barrel well to the hot spring. Bring a bucket, rope, shovel, and a tarp. You can have a hot tub on the beach. Great reason to boondock here.
