Something not right?

Description

Just off of the main Hoh Road (which passes through National Forest land with campsites as well!) lies a dead end road with a two track dirt road turn off to the left. Down this road there are about 6 sites, with the final one being on the rocks of the riverbank if you have high clearance.

I’d expect this area to have people during the weekend in season, but off season it is empty. Amazing site super close to the Hoh area of Olympic NP.

There is a fallen tree hanging around in the last part of the road. You can drive under it if your car is under 2,80m. No chance for taller cars.

Stayed here last night in our campervan with no issues. One car was parked down by the water, another couple of noisey cars came by after dark and had their headlights shining into our van while they walked around and scouted the area. They eventually drove down to the water and camped in the only sandy spot available. Bit of a bummer, but I don't own the place, so it is what it is. Our site was stunning though and I enjoyed our stay.

Close! A nice no camping sign is here. Sad it seems to be great

Report Check-In

Closed with a fence. Could not enter the trail

Camping here off-season was completely isolated and clean. I can see how it would get busy in the summer months. Got our AWD rig just past the dip at the end of the road but there was no vehicle access to the river after high water season. Could still walk down though.

As we are a 26ft RV we did not dare go down the road but opted to park at the end of the gravel right before the turn left to the riverbank. Had a nice and quiet sleep and perfect spot to leave to Hoh early in the morning and have breakfast there. could have parked more RVs, but for longer rigs you would have to back up out of it.

Rugged dip to get onto beach area. Was amazing to sit right in the river. Crystal blue water. Friday night we had about 5 people come down and scope our spot. Very very busy. Just above us there are spots you can get into with 2wd

Beautiful spot by the river but lots of trash and feces around. Road was muddy and water filled potholes were decently deep. Was able to get in with a RWD Sprinter. Was able to park up along the river bank all on our own. Took about 20 mins with a shovel to clean all of the human feces from the area. Some trash around as well. After that we were able to enjoy a nice fire and the quiet of the river. Next morning we got yelled at around 8AM by a local tour operator about blocking the boat ramp. There is a sign asking not to do this and we were well away from where the area and they easily put in the their raft. Figure it’s just locals that don’t like people camping there.
Enjoyable spot, but not without it’s issues.

Stunning Place! On the Way down big Potholes filled with Water, we have 4x4 and high Clearance, for Cars maybe not possible. We saw 3 Otter in the Morning. Very quiet and peaceful sleep.

This spot was amazing! As described, there are multiple spots right on the gravel road for camping, as well as one spot down a short incline for 2WD vehicles. If you have 4wd and high clearance, you can cross a large dip, and come to three more spots on the river. We were feeling ballsy, so we actually drove out onto the rocks at the rivers edge, and camped next to the river. Only shared the lower area with one other vehicle.
Amazing spot!!!

Great spot right by the river. Stayed on the sandy spot just before the rocks. Trail definitely needs 4x4 as it's pretty washed out. The Hoh River did rise a bit overnight due to heavy rain, so be aware. Several ok spots along the road though...

Much as described. The dirt track at the dead end of the gravel rd (on the left) is tight - a bit steep and low overhanging branches, also not much space to maneuver one you get to the first camp sites. Definitely not for a bigger rig or trailer. The first two sites are doable with 2wd, others might need 4wd.

We ended up camping on a pulloff 100 yards up from the dead end. Perfectly flat, a stone fire ring (although fires are currently banned in the region).

No cell service (Verizon, unboosted).

Report Check-In

Gravel Road on a bend. The left turn to camp sites had flooded and is impassable to all but sturdy 4x4's. There is a grassy camp site near the main road if you can't get to the bottom.
