Description

A small restaurant in this little town, it is in front of the beach, some palapas available, outside showers, restrooms (not so clean but ok) and wifi. They say you can park overnight for free but we didn't stay. Place looks safe and people here is nice. There is access to drive on the beach from La Barra to Jicacal in about 15 minutes. With an 4x4 you won't have any problem. It's a beautiful ride along the beach, pretty much recommended!!

Latest Check-Ins

It seems to be the only option to camp on the beach in Barra de Sontecomapan (we didn’t find another beach access). It’s not a bad place and it comes complete with a palapa, tables and chairs and a two hour voucher for (ridiculously slow) internet, but at the time we visited there the restaurant was closed, at night there was nobody around and there was no light – so, in terms of security, no difference to a boondocking site. If you are traveling northbound along this beautiful stretch of coast and you are not too late to move on you can be sure to find plenty of nicer options to camp, both, boondocking sites as well as sites on established campgrounds. MEX$ 100 for two people in a camper. NOTE: As of February 2018 there is no through road going along the coast on OSM (e.g. maps.me); actually there is one. It’s slow going but suitable for about any kind of vehicle.
