We went to Escritos Rous which is down and then up a set of stairs in an arcade - right in front of you is this shop. It is shop #19 and has green signs. We paid 23.000 clp for six months. We have a US vehicle (class B motorhome) and no RUT number and it was no problem, he did the whole thing for us using his RUT number. We did try to purchase SOAP insurance online, but the websites required a RUT number and it didn't work when we made up a fake RUT number as others have suggested, they seem to be able to match the RUT number to the person registered to the number.

We paid 23.000 clp for six months. We have a US vehicle and no RUT number and it was no problem. There was a nice Chilean guy who spoke reasonable English who was able to provide his own RUT number. We did try to purchase SOAP insurance online as others have suggested, but they required a RUT number and it didn't work when we made up a fake RUT number as others have suggested, they seem to be able to match the RUT number to the person registered to the number.

just go to the web site nobody sells it anymore. the form is a little confusing, there are two cells that you have to have numbers for. we ended up making up numbers and input them just like the example formula. sounds weird but it worked. good luck. oh yeah and fill up with gas before leaving Arica, it's a long lonely road. happy trails!

Here you find a lot of offices which sell the „seguro obligatorio“ and then you find also the place to get the „permiso de circulacion“. There was a long queue.
