The worst mechanic experience we had in south america!!!
Chris inspected the car well and found (real) problems. We were impressed and gave him the job. Big mistake. His work is messy and dirty as much as his place is. He lied to us about replacing parts that he didn’t actually replace, answered our phone only when he needed something from us and left us with a big and dangerous gasoline leak out of our injectors. We preferred paying another mechanic to fix it and not to see him again.

When Eduardo from Hostel Independencia recommend him walk the other way!

Christian and his side-kick Jonny are Punta Arenas' resident bush mechanics and are great at it. We searched for a mechanic to help change our wheel bearing and triceta/drive shaft bearing in both Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas for 3 days with noone wanting or with time/tools to help. These guys were really friendly and quick to help, though they really only work from about 2.30 to 7pm? haha. They sourced a hard to find part at a good price for us and let us sleep in the car yard... so these guys are probably aren't for you if you want a shiny professional workshop or need it done in seconds (but good luck anywhere in South America with that) but they do get the job done and are really nice guys. We were charged $100K pesos for 2 days of on and off work (maybe 4 hrs work for each guy). We thought their prices were very fair if not cheaper for the area... definitely give them a go :)

they alsp repair tyres there very quickly and a fibreglass dude to fix your bumper there too :)

Don't go there. Now he is really expensive, when i compare it with all the other ones we went. And the half what he did, was broken after 2 days. Eduardo from Hostal Independencia told us he is a real mecanic, he fix the old parts. For example, we lost one cover from our front lights. Instead to fix it, he bought 2 new lights, without asking us , because we're talking before about different things. That was cheap chino stuff he bought ,we think and after 2 days they didn't work any more. But we were to far away to come back. And some other parts. So if you don't want to waste your money and time, go for another one. Even when Eduardo recommended him.

This mechanic came recommended. We came here because we were having trouble with our clutch. Christian was able to diagnose the issue quickly and fix it not as quickly, but at least it got fixed. There was a dodge dealer in town but we were told by the mechanics there are clueless. Christian was familiar with our truck and also gave us an oil change. He also offered to let us sleep in our camper while we were here and the wind did not seem to hit us. Seemed a bit pricey and we struggled understanding his fast Chilean Spanish, but the clutch fix lasted us until Valez and problem started again.

Great place, real mechanic who can actually fix all kinds of mechanical problems. Same prices as for local people.
