This is one tightly locked-down view! You can still park at the basketball court and walk up, for $80, but a guide is now mandatory, along with registration and Covid control measures - I found it a little frustrating as wanted to get up fast to take photos some time before the sunset, but was allocated a guide with others who had heavy packs to camp and therefore were considerably slower, so it was virtually sunset by the time we reached the top - my fault for getting there late in the day really, but I'd thought I could rush up and make the most of the remaining light and the guide kept insisting we stopped for rests as the light slipped away! I was also forbidden from entering the area where tents were erected (which meant not being able to take photos of one side of the hill) as that was for campers only.

Overnighting at the carpark is no longer permitted, and they're strict about it - fee up with finding toilet paper scattered around I think, and they said they need the space for the morning rush (sure enough to here was one, tens of cars and minibuses ferrying people in from Pinal de Amoles for the sunrise). A local guy kindly let me park up on his land along the approach road, and even said there was a quicker route up to the summit for the morning - but when I tried to take it I was hiked back by the guy who lives along there who said he'd been alerted by radio that they'd seen me walking on the CCTV cameras and it wasn't permitted!

In summary, you can camp or take a cabaña at the top, or use one of the other local iOverlander recommendations, or return to Pinal de Amoles - but the car park is not an option overnight.

We sleep one night just frony of the basket ball court. Nice mountain village. I came by this road with my Off Roadtrek heavy of 4000KG and it was very hard due the big 45 degree slope. Be advise.
