Description

For sure the very best place on our way to the El Tatio Geysiers. After we checked every single one of the other Campsites close by we found a much more beautiful place than expected! COMING from San Pedro you enter on the left side of the street a small way upwards a little hill and you will directly see a wonderful big fire pit we've built with many stones. The coordinates mark the entrance from the street. You are far enough from the street so no distracting noise during the night but a wonderful sunset, sunrise, stars and Licancabur view! You do not need a 4x4 to access this place. We spend here one of our most beautiful nights with an insane bone fire. Feel free to use our created spot. You can gather some wood to burn in the surrounding area from many of the already dead plants. We did this for about an hour and had enough for some flames of over one meter and an not extinguishing fire for about an hour. Of course real thick wood will work better. Enjoy this lovely place and make some FIRES! Follow us on us on Instagram and YouTube for travel videos!

Firepit is still here. 😊 We did not use it because of the wind. Better place than staying at the parking lot direct to the street.
Please bring your own wood to have a Fire and save the rare plants arround. If they survived the goats, they should not be burned. It‘s too hard for any plant to live in this area so it should be protected.

Checking in here as it’s been a while. Huge fireplace still in place. You are not hidden from the road but we spent 2 nights without any problems, even left our camper to nip across the road to the free hotpools.

The fire pit lives! Excellent spot that allows you to be aware of traffic, as well as offering more hidden spots behind the hill for more privacy. I found a blue #alyssaswishes rock there (google it), so obviously more people visit the spot. The entrance can be a bit tricky on a 2x4. There’s also an abandoned stone cottage just up and behind the adjacent hill.

Still a very good spot. Lots of flat places for tents. The fire-pit was still there, but had fallen in on itself, so we rehabilitated it and made up a big fire. I would recommend finding wood before coming, maybe near SPdA or on the drive up. There is wood around but from smaller bushes. Amazing sunset and really quiet. Cars start to pass around 5:30am on the way up to Tatio (~50 min drive up). Might need 4x4 to get up the first hump up to this spot (but could be done carefully without 4x4).

Still a good spot on the way to the geysers

Indeed a nice spot as described in the first comment. No shelter for sun. Some leveled spots. We can see the road from above but very quiet. Really nice 360 views
