Something not right?

Description

A building at the intersection of ruta provincial 7 (north end) and ruta 40 has huge letters AGVP. The workers allowed us to sleep in a tent next to a wall (not at the roofed parking spot, where we initially set tents with other cyclists). The building gave a very good wind protection. Many cyclists stop here, the workers say that in December/January come up to 20 cyclists per night! We were only 6. Water available from a huge canister, but the workers say it is not potable, though the sign says "water potable". We used it for cooking and washing though.

Latest Check-Ins

It is not a camping, it is a Vialidad building! We asked for a place to pitch our tent and be protected from the wind (heavy) and the guy offered us to use the big parking space and gave us 10 liters of water! Next day he advised us about the route we were going to take! There is electricity to charge phones and small devices and free WiFi.

for us it was a super quiet night!!! the noise of the generator is not that loud and Claudio closed it at 22:30h. absolute silence :) he gave us a big bottle of potable water.

Report Check-In

Cheery guy, invited us in to warm up and share mate. Then when we asked if we could bring our stove inside to cook he said only in return for the right tip. But he still let us camp out the back. Generator noise and vehicles stopping to use the WiFi so not the most peaceful but you’re really only here for the wind shelter

Report Check-In

Camped here to escape from the wind. The owner was a lovely guy who brought me clean water from inside the shelter and even invited me in for dinner. He gives you stones to set up your tent on the sheltered concrete and you can cook out of the wind. Good Wi-Fi and overall a fine place to stop if the pampas winds are taking their toll.

Report Check-In

Good place to hide from the wind. He offered us a place in the 'garage' to set up our tent, a kettle with water and in the evening he even brought a small loaf of bread that he just baked. Very friendly guy!

Report Check-In

The worker that lived there, Claudio, let us camp in the garage, protected from the wind. He also gave us water and he had everything organised, as soon as I started talking, he said, “I let cyclists sleep in the garage, I bring water for you, you can cook there, use this trash and this rocks to secure your tent”. He is very used to receive and has everything ready to it. Also, you have free Wi-Fi. We couldn’t use the bathroom but he gave us gasoline to fulfill our MSR whisper lite to cook. Very nice spot for cyclists.

Report Check-In

We stopped here and had our water bottles filled up. No sign of the outdoor water tank but the worker brought out a large kettle of water for us. These guys are road workers, whose job isn’t to serve cyclists but who still choose do so - comments about how nice or not they are made on here seem a bit unfair, this isn’t Disneyland, they’re not here to entertain you!

I arrived at 4 pm and Cláudio, the man who lives and works there, let me sleep there in a covered and safe place. He gave me water and was nice to me. Fast internet and a place to charge your cell phone. Just don't authorize the use of the bathroom. He's a serious man, but if you're respectful to him, he'll be respectful to you too.

Report Check-In

Good place for cyclists. Was allowed to pitch my tent with two other cyclists in the roofed and wind protected parking space. They crew gave us water and there is a slow free wifi and an outlet to charge your phone.

Report Check-In

Lugar grande e tranquilo para passar a noite.

Nice and calm. Huge and flat area.

Report Check-In

For cyclists - You can camp here free. The attendant allowed to camp in the garage (brick floor) which is protected from rain and 3 wind directions (not south). He also provides water for bottles.

Report Check-In

I had the bad luck to fall into Claudio's shift. He pointed me the corner where I could pitch my tent and told me to leave everything as it was before I left, not without suggesting "una colaboración" to pay for the open Wi-Fi network that, he says, he pays outta his pocket (which is obviously horse**it).

careful with the black cat. he will pee your tent.

Report Check-In

We just saw a nice guy that authorised us to put the tent and use potable water, that was what we wanted. Doesn't look like he wanted to chat, nor offered to use bathroom (maybe he saw to many camper the last few days). anyway we didn't ask for more. Good shelter, good free WiFi, nice sunset and sunrise.

El hombre de vialidad permite colocar la carpa abajo de un techo, hay agua potable y WiFi libre

Think we had the other guy - Claudio - but he was very happy for us to put up our tent. He talked us through the big map on the walk here and gave us tips on the road ahead to TdP and places to stay.

AGVP shelter/puesto fijo. this place is kind a office and home for the national roads responsible. they work for shifts so every 15 days the worker changes. i was lucky to meet oscar and his wife mercedes and their daughters. they really like cyclists. let them in use the kitchen, use the dorm, internet, toilet and shower. however 15 of january shift will change and as far as i understand the other worker is not that tolerant -__-

It seems the hosts of this place change often. The family living there and managing it found us 15km out battling a terrible headwind. They turned around to pick us up and drove us here. Gave us a spare bedroom and let us use their kitchen to cook. Free open wifi as well. Amazing hospitality! Very grateful.

Report Check-In

It's also a place to stay overnight for Motorhomes (RV + big rig).
Noice only from the trough going traffic. Wind protected very good from the high bushes. No facilities.

Report Check-In

NOT a friendly man, matter of fact when we first arrived he refused to answer the door when we knocked. We walked around the building, filled out water bottles from the big water container (that leaks bad). We could hear noises inside the living area so we knocked again. He finally came to the door, told us we could pitch our tent in a wind protected area, advised us that "this wasn't a hotel" and that there are no bathrooms. This was not a quiet place and big trucks came and went, lots of traffic noise. It was an "okay" place and it was out of the wind, which was needed.

Report Check-In

Big building of the Argentinian provincial road service. Cyclists can camp in a sheltered area (big garage). Many have already spent nights here. Saved us from the - 5C and snow. Claudio is super kind.

Report Check-In

The road workers are nice guys with a relaxed attitude, they offered me a maté and let me camp sheltered from the wind :-)

Don't forget so say hi to the dog and the cats!
