Big open field, legit spot as others have said..during hunting season, which is somewhat short, it is probably not the most idyllic spot..people will hunt with dogs and there’ll be a lot of noise. Road easy enough to get in with almost any vehicle..but in rain 4x4 would be strongly suggested. I meet the “caretaker” of the spot nice guy..not sure if he’s on any legit staff but he keeps things safe there. If your not hunting there probably isn’t much else to do but good spot close enough to Tallahassee. Highly recommend a visit to Wakulla Springs down the road (4 + $2 each additional person).

great free place for the night in the national forest! plenty of space, although the heat and bugs were no joke as of Feb 2023

Nice pine forest. Sandy loam road coming in, not too far from the highway. You would probably want 4WD after a heavy rain. Essentially just a large opening in the pine forest with makeshift fire pits and a game hanging station. Probably best to be completely self contained unless you get a spot on the edge. No pit toilets, water or facilities of any type other than a large dumpster. Horseflies and gnats especially were a bit insane. The others there stayed in their vans/ campers the whole time presumably because of the bugs. (We have a screened awning- it helped but the bugs still infiltrated it) Overall not bad, not super private, but it is free and legal to stay up to 14 days. Ranger drove by and waved.

Great spot! A little bumpy on the road in but we were fine in a Ram Promaster. Very quiet. Would have been great for star gazing but the moon was too bright.

The road in is a little bumpy but. I thing to worry about. Take your time and you’ll be fine. We took our 40ft 5th wheel here no problem. Just try to go to the sides of the deeper holes.

Great free spot! We stayed for a few days. AT&T service was good. The access road is sand and has some holes so consider your ground clearance (we were fine with about 8”). It was about 1/4 full with hunters. We heard some gun shots during the day but felt safe where we were, but wouldn’t go for a hike during hunting season. We’d stay again.

Nice, flat clearing with plenty of space, a few porta potties and a trash receptacle.
