We parked here for one night and did not get bothered. We did not see any signs in regards to the height and length restrictions mentioned in the review. It was noisy in the evening but quieted down overnight.

Great spot ! We stayed there 4 nights in a row. Nobody bothered. Very quiet and peaceful night (although we were in February, I don't know what it is like in high season). We could use the bathroom a bit further down on the beach open 6am-6pm.

We stayed here for about a week! Perfect spot close to downtown, but still away from the city noise. Few people sleeping on benches and some people coming and going in their cars.

At 9am we would just move to the short term beach parking lot, it was a great spot to cook and no one bothered us.

Stayed here last night with no issues. The next morning (Friday) we even paid for parking in the same spot during the day from 9am-3pm with no problems. Close to the bathrooms, sinks, beach, even restaurants, coffee and laundry services are 10 minute walks away.

Didn’t get bothered but pretty loud with people and cars. Slept ok considering. Sprinkler system turned around 1230 at night and was hitting my van every minute with water for about an hour. Took about ten minutes before I realized what was happening

Easy overnight spot in a walkable area. Some very colorful neighbors, but lots of other rigs and we felt safe. Garbage, bathroom, and cold showers just down the hill on the beach. Free between the hours of 6 PM and 9 AM, every day of the week.

Super spot ! Nous avons dormi ici pendant plusieurs nuits (5) et nous nous sommes toujours senti en sécurité. Les autres vans sont respectueux des uns et des autres. Il y a la mer à deux pas. Il faut juste bien lire les panneaux car certains jours tu dois partir à 7h car ils nettoient la rue. Entre 9h et 18h c’est payant. La nuit est gratuite. Attention aux cacas dé chiens sur l’herbe ! Il y a beaucoup de sans abris dans le coin mais jamais de problème ni avec eux ni avec les habitants du quartier. Être calme et discret est important !

With views on the beach, 5 minutes walk from toilets (Though they close at 6PM in winter and 8 PM in summer).
Walk way with grass in the beach side.
Several campers here, felt safe.
It’s impressively quiet for what it is during the week, even though there’s light traffic all the time and cars stop and go, but sea sound hides the noise a bit.
Spent a night without problems.
The only trouble here is the lack of toilets at night, so certain spots smell like urine, we actually moved to avoid it.

There is multiple parking spots. I stayed 1/4 miles more north on ocean Drive. same parking rules. free from 6pm to 9am then 2.50$/h

Got here yesterday afternoon, paid for a couple hours of parking until 6pm. Quiet area, mild to moderate traffic, considering it was a Friday night. The bathrooms are like a 4-5 minute walk away (this time of year they look to be open from 6am to by 6pm, I added a pic). I seen a couple other vans on the west side of the street when I got here, so I knew I was in the right spot. You have to clear out between 7-9am, although I didn’t observe a street sweeper (parking enforcement comes by around 9:15am). I included a pic of the meter sign from the east side of the street.

Metered street parking free from 6pm to 9am on non-street sweeper days. Must move by 7am on street sweeper days. 5 hrs max during metered time.

We pulled in at 2pm, paid through 6pm and enjoyed a peaceful night! Paid for two hours in the morning to enjoy Santa Monica and then headed out.

You do need a free permit to park overnight if you’re more than 20ft long. You can only get a permit if you are associated with a Santa Monica resident. You must apply online and provide information to the city. The resident has to sign the application.

You can request the permit for 30 days max. The permit is mailed & applications take up to 5 days to approve, so plan ahead!!

This was an awesome spot just around the corner from the ocean. We were on the corner of ocean ave and bay rd.

We will definitely stay here again if we’re in SM. Total cost was $12.50 for the 7 hrs we paid at the meter.

We spend here one night without any problems. One site is tues/thurs/sat no parking between 7 am to 9 am. On the other side it's mon/wed/Fri no parking between 7 am to 9 am. So choose you site. Parked the car around 8 pm and went to bed at 11 pm. Still bussy but you can just jump inside the bar quickly. We left at around 9 am. Woke up at 8 am and got Ready.

Arrived around 8:30pm, still busy with few spots. Later more became available. I am in not an oversized vehicle. Lots of people going by in cars, bikes and scooters. Traffic dies off later it gets. Stayed across from apartment building on one side. Walkway with wall and view of ocean on the other side. Had no issues.

Parked here for one night without any issues. Wasn’t the quietest spot, but probably as good as your gonna get for LA. Was a little worried about getting fined based on what the last reply said about being over 20 ft, not sure if we are over 20ft we have a 170 wheel base sprinter. But we left before 9am and there were no tickets on the windshield.

Right next to the beach, maybe a 5 minute walk to the shore. Just regular street parking. Check the signs, there are meters but after 6pm you are fine to park for free, have to pay for parking again in the morning if you stay later. Right next to nicer beach homes. Can be noisy because of people walking around beach area. Good for a night if you can’t find anywhere else.
