Sergey was out of town when I showed up unannounced, but his team of kind and capable people were here to help. I brought my motorcycle in for some electrical issues after I had some welding done without disconnecting the battery (not my brightest idea), and they eagerly set about it. everybody was interested to help, and 4 of us spent about 4 hours dissecting the bike to solve the issue. at the end of it I was ready to pay handsomely, but they refused payment even though I insisted that I must pay them for putting in so much work. To top it off, the main electrical guy, Maxim, invited me to have dinner with his friends and stay at his place, since the day was almost over. I'm glad I did so and am super grateful to everyone for their help!!

We can fully confirm the previous post. We met Sergey after we just arrived by ferry to Aktau and went to his shop pretty unannounced as we expected to arrive a couple of days later. Even though it seemed like he was quite busy he completely went out of his way to help us out and get our car checked by his friend as soon as possible. We had no major issues but were very glad his friend had a thorough look at our car and took care of what the last service overlooked.

Sergey really is one of the most open and kind people we met on the way - he took a lot of time to answer any of our questions we had and thanks to him we had awesome first days in Kasachstan.

As mentioned he also is a tour guide and we very strongly recommend his services as a guide as well.

This is offroad enthusiast sergey khachatrian's auto shop (see our other post in aktau for his guide services).

Sergey is a wizard of electrical and body work, and in 15 mins had found and installed an original replacement toyota stereo system for our 94 hilux and fixed some electrical issues we were having with our headlights.

He also has an extensive network of mechanics in aktau, and can help you do ANY mechanical, welding, tire, or customization work you need done. Our lada roofrack flew off our vehicle on a really bad ravine while offroading, and within 24 hours sergey and his good friend and master mechanic sergo had built and fitted for us a custom steel welded rack that would put ARB to shame. Sergo and sergey together can really do anything - even engine customization or rebuild.

Keep in mind that original parts usually have to be ordered to aktau, so if you know you will need something substantial done best to get in touch in advance.

Sergey is a super honest and generous person who is passionate about vehicles (esp. 4x4s) and loves to meet and help overlanders. He has intermediate english but due to his gregarious nature and with the help of google translate you can communicate anything with him.
