Something not right?

Description

Grassy area under tall trees (sheltering from the wind). but only for tents. The vans and campers must sleep in the car park, BBQ, tables/benches and water taps at sites. Bathrooms with hot showers that hardly work(19.00- 21.00). shower presure is horrible, only a drops come out of the shower. Bathrooms cleaned daily. We paid 14000 ARs per person (fee to hike to the glacier is included).
No electricity, charge your devices at the small shop.
Vans and tents are kept in separate areas. in the car park
A clean basic closed common area is available with tables and benches to shelter from the bad weather.
gate is kept locked.
Agressive reception

NOTE - 6 Tonne limit on road may restrict some big rigs.

Big scam
The campground is 14000 pp the amenities are dirty and the water in the showers barely runs.
The lady is agressive because she deliberately lets you set up camp before saying that the price has gone up.
Van and campers must sleep in the car park.

Grande arnaque.

Report Check-In

very beautiful place in the trees, close to the lake and the port. Barbecue, simple sanitary facilities not cleaned every day. Shower only from 7 to 9 p.m. Wifi only from 9 p.m. and at the campsite entrance. Very expensive 10000p.p.

Report Check-In

nice place because of the trees. overpriced because the shower presure is to little. only warm drups come out of the shower. no wifi

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay. Price is incrased to 10000 p.p. because of the drastic change of the rate. Entree of the park is included

Report Check-In

10.000 ARS pp. Entry to the Laguna Hike is included, you can‘t get it without.
Hot showers, but nearly no water coming out..
Refugio with tables.
Check-out 11AM.

Report Check-In

Small campground right at the entrance of the glacier! The campground had a few spots for camper vans and many spots for tents. They had a refugio with tables inside but no kitchen to cook inside. They did have many picnic tables and outside grills to cook your own food. The bathrooms were okay and the showers had hot water at only certain times of the day. The showers were not the best as both shower heads were broken but you can still take a quick hot shower. There is a restaurant and little mini store with snacks and drinks at the main entrance. They also offer paided WIFI for 30 mins. We stayed one night in our camper van and they charged us $10000 ARS PP and it also includes the entrance fee for the hike.

Report Check-In

o lugar é bonito. vale a pena :)

confirmed last description.
Despite a few tourist minibuses are carrying visitors mostly between 10:30 and 13:00 this is and remains a remote destination, a place at the border in Patagonia. With its fascinating strengths and with its limitations..
Electricity is from a turbine at the river, you can ask at the small shop to recharge your electronics, but is not available at the campsite.
water is warm for the showers, but very little pressure makes it difficult to wash your hair..
but hey, it's here you meet the tough local fishermen that bring back salmons of 6 kg, and tell you the story of their lifecycle, born here, good to Alaska, and back here to die...
The boat trips start at 10:30 and would bring to clavier view or alternatively with hike on the ice. Being the border to Chile currently closed, the boat does not reach the northern point of the lake.
Lastly, no cellular signal here, if something's happens, the connect via radio to a 'hotel' which is mid way on the shore of the lake, which has satellitar communications.
if this is inspiring you, then come over, otherwise stay in El Chalten...

Report Check-In

unfriendly people, did not like the place , and expensive 350 ARS ONE NIGHT ONE PERSON. and if you want to hike the glacier you must pay 300 ars more.

Report Check-In

Wide Place, grassy area under trees with tables and fire places, but for Motorhomes not enough space. Wind protected. To expensive for what you get. We’ve payed 600 pesos for 2 people and a Motorhome. Showers with slow pressure and not hot enough. Toilets dirty.
Don’t use the water, they say it’s potable but it looks a bit milky.
You can hike to the glacier Huemul, as campers we shouldn’t pay for.

Report Check-In

300peso pp now. can camp inside the refuge if bad weather. bathrooms still dirty. still no where to wash dishes. suggest using shower hot water. shop attached to camping has a few key supplies (beer wine crisps)

Report Check-In

Now it is 300 pesos per person. It is expensive for what you get for sure. But we had no wind and we had place to make a fire, and that made our stay good. All the camping for ourselves. Bathrooom and showers aren’t as clean as they should be... my partner went to the glacier to swim. Now if you pay the 300 you can hike the glacier.
I should had read more careful that maybe the carabiners let you sleep for free...

Report Check-In

Kiosk with shop selling coffee, beer snacks and burgers. Shelter and picnic tables - good place to wait for the boat going north!

Report Check-In

Large grassy area with great views of glaciers. Wooden tables dispersed over area (not per camp site). BBQ / cooking areas by tables. In process of building new showers and cooking building when we were there - looks nice. Showers only lukewarm. Prices have gone up even more: 200 pesos per person for tent camping, plus 150 per person for permission to hike up to glacier. 100 meters from river. 300 meters from lake. Run by likable truly Patagonian older couple. Shop with some food (biscuits, beer, etc). Views are great but price is high.

Report Check-In

Beautiful location very close to and with view on the gletscher, almost at the lake. Highly overpriced for the the services offered: we paid ARS 300 for two adults and a car. Hot showers only 2 inconvenient hours per day, no electricity, no wifi, no facilities for laundry or dish washing, horse droppings on the terrain. The hot shower promised for the morning didn't work, so in fact we paid ARS 150 per person for toilets only; it was the worst deal so far of our trip. Next time we will try the parking at the very end of the road from El Chiltén. Small shop with drinks and sweets. Places with good wind shelter. The campground itself is OK for big rigs, but the road from El Chiltén is 6 tonnes max. ARG 300 (2 adults, camper)

Report Check-In

Current 'pricing structure' is even more absurd: camping 150 ARS pp, and 100 to hike the glacier or just 150 ARS pp if you just want to see the glacier without staying at the camping. We decided to stay 100 m up the road near the gendarmerie for free :-)

Report Check-In

Too expensive for what you get. Grassy area under trees (covered from the wind). BBQ, tables/benches and water tabs at sites. Bathrooms with hot showers (19.30 - 21.30). Bathrooms were dirty. We paid 100 pesos per person. They charge you to hike to the glacier (50 per person if you stay at the camping, otherwise 100 per person). Rip-off!
