Recommended! Just before the entrance of arenal observatory lodge. Costs half the price (10 vs. 18), you can sleep there and you can add a night hike as well if you want. Saw toucans, monkeys and coatis.

we paid 5000pP for the Trails and nothing for overnight stay. good Deal. trails are nice, old Lava trail 4km, nice views 2h and tucan trail 30min, the cabel and the waterpipeline at the entrance, are not high enough for us, may be only 3,50m, you have to found a solution if you are higher (like us), Toilette and water on site, not leveled, very quite, come before 3pm otherwise closed, you can use the trails on both days with one paying

Great place to view Arenal and stay the night.  The loop trail is not long and takes you up close for a beautiful view of Arenal and the lake. Augustus the caretaker was welcoming. 10$ pp to hike, 15$ to stay the night. I cooled and rinsed off in the river after hikes and I used the covered patio in the evening to escape the rain and cook my meal. The ground is soft and could be soggy, so I'd recommend for rooftenters and vans.
The trail to Cerra Chota is quite difficult for the last half as it's steep, slippery and overgrown. there was a downed tree at the very top that turned me away, just meters from the "viewpoint", but it was cloudy anyways. I enjoyed my stay and hikes!
also they were installing internet while I was there so should be available shortly.

Beautiful, adventurous trail. It now costs $14 pp. We saw spider monkeys, howler monkeys and William, the owner explained a lot to us and is very open-minded. We stayed the night and were alone in the jungle again in the dark to see frogs, but had no luck.
