Description

León's Metropolitan Park offers camping zones, restroom facilities, restaurants, medical clinics and other services all year long. That are the words from the homepage. Usualy the campsites are for tents (under high trees) but they let us in with our 23 feet truckcamper. We paid 62 MXN per person for a night. The procedere was complicate and we needed more than 1 hour to get in ( a lot of phone calls were necessary). No pets! Seems to be very busy after winter, all days you have a lot of runners and cyclist (7 km round).

Latest Check-Ins

This is a great place to spend the night in León! Registration was very simple and took less than 5 min. They do hold your ID overnight and you just have to get it back from the office when you leave. It cost $62 MXN per person per night and their website recommends arriving before 6pm. It seems like tent camping would be fine in the “bosque” but we had to park our truck with rooftop tent in the parking lot next to the wooded area. This is a busy metro park and people will be walking/running/riding the paths during all open hours (6am-10pm) but it was fun to interact with the passersby and enjoy the trails ourselves. Great bird and sunset watching on the lake, also great for a night view of the cityscape. Lots of snack food vendors around and in walking distance of city restaurants. Very peaceful at night and we felt safe with the overnight guard who made a show of riding his bike and shining his flashlight in the bushes. Other overlanding friends stayed here a few days later and enjoyed their experience as well!

Safe place for staying overnight, busy at the weekend, but quiet in the night. We parked with our 20 ft Van for 162 Pmex. You have to register with ID, so that takes a while.

Nos quedamos dos noches, luego de lasb10pm completamente solos. Muy calmado y seguro. Ahora cobran 57 por persona + 21 de estacionamiento.

We stayed two nights, after 10pm we were completely alone. Very calm and safe. Now they charge 57 per person + 21 for parking.

Great place to camp in Leon. 57 Pesos per Person for one night (no car), and no extra entrance fee. It's safe, quiet, toilets are nearby and most of the time very clean. No showers though.
The park is really nice and everybody was friendly.
We recommend staying there!

Safe place with nice surroundings. We stayed here with our van for two nights. For big rigs probably difficult to get in because of some low (3m) trees. The camping area is to the left, where you can park the van along a low wall, on the other side of the wall is a grassy ground with camping tables and grills, as well as large trees. The trees give nice shade. We paid 380 P for 2 persons with camping for 2 days.
Taxi to the city center is around 100 P, you can also take the bus line 1.

We stay for 1 night with our Truck Camper. We paid 156 pesos. Friendly guards and the park is nice. Park will close at 10pm.

Nice place, 508 pesos for four people. Easy taxi to town and shop at Central de Cimionnerra. Also shopping at the outlet. Belle ville pour magasiner du cuir. Il se peut que ce soit trop plein la fin de semaine pour un gros VR.

AMAZING place. Awesome park AND camping too! Forested pine area with new picnic tables and grills for tent camping. Large parking area adjacent for RVs. Nice bathrooms with flush toilets.

62 pesos for solo tent camping. (50/camping + 12/pp park entry).

Street lights until 11pm and 24hr bicycle-mounted security patrols. Very nice guards.

Free water fountains near entrance.

Electric plugs near far-end bathrooms.

Specifically asked and was told the park is big-rig friendly.

Check in took about 5 mins, with official receipt and photo ID deposit for security guards at the gate. (After hours reentry)

NOTE: Prices higher during FIG hot air balloon event, this year 16 Nov 2018.
