Ecuador
A beautiful riverside location that's used by the locals and the nearby river lodges as a pick-up and drop off site with canoes. Don Victor lives with his family on the house above and charges $2 for car parking but we camped down by the launch site (without blocking access) and didn't pay. You meet interesting people living, vacationing and volunteering in the vicinity. You can charter a boat here to a wild animal rescue park close by.
For those interested in coming from or going to Coca up north, there exists a road (unmarked on paper and digital maps as of 2015) that follows the Amazon side of the Napo river. Only one third is paved but the rest is fairly graded with a few easy shallow river crossings. Nice drive, highly recommended.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
